JavaMusiK presents Bending Chords.

Discover the rich piano/keyboard melodies of Colorado composer/pianist Jeff Van Devender. Van Devender's compositions can best be summed up as coffeehouse meets the piano.

Listen as he paints musical landscapes featuring distant strains which reach deep into the soul. His melodies have been described as a blending of classical, jazz & rock influences with a peaceful touch of soul. Also sometimes described as George Winston meets Elton John.

His music can be found on his debut cd 'Ascend' (cdbaby.com/vand) as well as this newly released followup cd 'Bending Chords,' (released - August 2002.).

The music on 'Bending Chords' marks a departure from his earlier solo piano work. Van Devender cites a broadened effort with added instrumentation filling out this excursion, punctuated with several uptempo numbers including the much acclaimed "Synyrgyze!"
"I can't wait for people to hear this one!" he states.

In Sept. 2005, Autumn Chill ascended to the #1 position on the SoundClick Contemporary Classical music charts giving JavaMusiK it's first ever #1 song at SoundClick.

Bending Chords also features a tribute to the 14 firefighters who died fighting the Storm King Mountain (South Canyon) Fire of 1994 in Colorado. Titled 'Storm King Sacrifice,' this solo piano piece provides a stark description no words could ever express. As of Sept. 11, 2003, for one year, proceeds from every sale of Ascend and Bending Chords on this site was contributed to a Firefighter's fund in memorial of those 14 firefighters. JavaMusiK was proud to make their contribution at the 10 year memorial to the Storm King firefighters July 6, 2004.

'Ascend' garnered nominations for Best Instrumental Song & Best Instrumental CD in 2001 through JustPlainFolks.com.

Recently, Van Devender has gained a reputation as a go-to musician for several hotels and events in Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Winter Park and Estes Park, Colorado as well as maintaining his music position at two churches every Sunday morning. The summer of 2005 saw Van Devender playing in venues from California to Chicago with many stops in between.

Van Devender has been a featured performer for YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park & Winter Park, CO every summer since 1999. He also was instrumental in organizing 'Songs 4 Kosovo' in the Glenwood Springs, CO locale in 1999. The event featured over 20 performing groups from the surrounding area and raised over $2,400 locally and $25,000 nationally - all of which was donated to Red Cross to be used for relief efforts aiding victims of the Kosovo conflict.

On a scale of 1 to uplifting, there is simply some real positive music being played and recorded here. Who needs lyrics when the music knows how to speak? Listen close. You can hear who the artist is. The person. Thanks for sharing this!

    author: Evan Paul

Bending chords is a work of art, from After the Rain to Synyrgyze, it has grabbed my senses and sent them to the land of beauty. Each piece, so different melodically, is threaded by the same skillful hands of this awsome artist. It sits on top of my collection as one of my faves.
