NDELIBLE: Time and Chance
WIth a fascinating blend of soul, rock, hip hop and Latin music, Ndelible's more than capable musicians have made an album that's thought provoking, captivating and uplifting with it's intelligent, spiritually minded lyrics. From the hard rocking "Fading" to the rap of "The Let Down" to the 70s soul of "Weakness" this album has a little bit of something for everyone. The end result may remind listeners of Prince, Outkast, and even Dave Matthews Band at times. These guys know what they're doing and I can't wait to hear what they do next.

PEPPER POTS, THE: Now!
What a marvelous take on 60's girl groups, from Barcelona's Pepper Pots. While their previous album was a fun homage to 60s ska and rocksteady, this spends most of its time exploring the pop sounds that made the Motown/Stax era so unique. Produced by New Yorker Binky Griptite, known for his work with Sharon Jones & Dap Kings and Amy Winhouse, this album has a classic sound, recalling luminaries like Martha & the Vandellas or The Supremes. With three ladies sharing lead vocals and an eight-member band, the songs have a full (yet never muddy) sound. Their songs are irresistible, so stop reading this and start listening now!

ELDRIDGE GRAVY & THE COURT SUPREME: Us Is What Time It Is
This album is the funky good time soul soundtrack to your 2009 barbeque. Forget the barbeque, this album is all you need for your summer 2009 soundtrack. Does it have the key ingredients Tight guitar? Check. Pockets as deep as tar pits? Check. Hot shot horn section? Check. Powerful, sliding around the groove, heartfelt soulful vocals with awesome background singers? Check. Mix in some psychedelic soul organ and you've got a recipe for a helluva good time with "Us Is What Time It Is." Eldridge Gravy and his small army of music makers play some funky soul in the style of Sly Stone, The Dap Kings, and Galactic. It's infectious, funky, righteously produced by Jonny Mendoza at Seattle's AVAST studios. From the mid-tempo grooving "Escalator" to the distorted bass playing molasses-thick soul of "Pick You Up," this is rock solid funk: deep, hot, & dirty.

CHRIS CLARK: Soul Sounds
What can one say about a classic 1967 Motown album that hasn't already been said? She's a 6 foot tall blonde who wrote the screenplay to "Lady Sings the Blues," the gripping biopic about Billie Holiday. There's nothing like the sound of the oft-imitated classic Motown sound. With a style not unlike Dusty Springfield or Bobbie Gentry, Chris Clark has a strong and soulful voice, and naturally, the amazing Motown band to back her up. Now re-issued after being digitally remastered, this album deserves a new generation of fans, and deserves to be re-discovered by fans who loved it the first time around.

JAI: Focus - EP
Holy smokes, will this get your party hoppin'! This is totally pro, hot R&B pop in the style of Pink, Rihanna, or her Christian contemporaries Mary Mary, for whom she was a background singer. With 5 tight and punchy songs, there's no filler here, just top notch production of some very catchy, hook-filled top 40 gospel. Packed with dense and dark synth bass, layers of vocals, and foot stomping beats, and more hooks than a tackle box, these crafty songs are rather dark and mysterious in their production, yet have hopeful, positive lyrics. It's a cunning combination that's sure to keep the listener intrigued. With a great musical resume and a strong new CD, this clever young wife and mother has everything it takes to make it big in the urban Christian scene.
