Lyrically sophisticated with backwoods-folk flare!
author: RenaeIf you like a sound that pulls at the innermost core of your being, listen to this CD, you are in for an adventure.
Buckets of fun for fans new and old
author: Bill ChildsRefreshes vague recollections of seeing the band at the 400 in Minneapolis, and it's fun to see the ancestors of what Justin Roberts is doing nowadays, both for kids and grownups. PfG fans with kids must get his solo kids' stuff, and everyone must get his solo album...
Better than great.
author: KatherineTakes me back to the days at Kenyon College, when the band would keep playing till someone broke a string. Cheerful, bouncy, wistful music by skilled performers.
I have loved this album for more than a decade
author: janellePsychoustica - genius out of time
author: Arnie DeutchMusica psychoustica is perhaps the best example of the New Wood sound in the post punk/pre grunge backwash of the early 90's. Shaded in the sylvan verdure of Kenyon College this over qualified trio crafted a no-compromise sound the predates many of the neo-folk movement smade opopular half a decade later. Like Can to Trent Rezner, Pimentos for Gus explored without compensation, fusing political commentary, high-voltage Irony & sweet popcraft into one of the most underrated acts this side of the Band. P 4 G Prefigured the likes of Tenacious D ("breakfast with Satan") while still maintaining strong ties to their 70's Singer Songwriter forebarers - "Giraffe Nightengale" and 80's alt heroes:, Camper Van Beethoven:"hurling sprouts"
