Mike Lasala (pronounced luh-sal-uh) is a New Haven, CT based performing singer/songwriter who merges gritty vocals, introspective lyrics, and pop sensibilities to create his unique brand of acoustic rock. Mike's songs convey life lessons, observations, and experiences that seek to reassure others they are not alone on the journey we call life.
Mike's muse has taken him from guitarist in a Connecticut-based hard rock band, to wandering troubadour as he spent two and a half months traveling cross-country, to performing songwriter in the coffeehouses of Northern California, and back to the East coast, with each experience serving to strengthen Mike both musically, and as a human being, thus prompting the self-imposed moniker, Acoustic | Rock | Evolving | Soul.
October 2003 welcomed the release of Mike's long-awaited debut, Somewhere to Be, which was recorded by Pete Szymanski and mastered by Roger Arnold (R.E.M, Ani DiFranco). With song styles ranging from storytelling (George the Gifter, Ninth Square Marketeer), to life-pondering (I Fell, Everybody Else), to just down right groove-laden (Impatient), Mike's debut has a broad appeal.
And so the journey continues as Mike sets his sights on growing a fan base by taking the stage solo, and with the occasional backing band, at coffeehouses, clubs, and street corners throughout the Northeast.

What you hear on "Somewhere to Be" is what you hear when Mike Lasala plays live
author: Leejay RudenjakWhat you hear on "Somewhere to Be" is what you hear when Mike Lasala plays live: honest talent and rough beauty. He's on a path all his own, this guy, eschewing the familiar in favor of the bold, and he lets his wonderfully paired music and words emerge and breathe from some deep places without allowing his obvious intelligence to take away the mystery. If that sounds like too precious a review, let me add that the man gets a groove on and plays like a motherf. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.

Stellar Album!
author: WendyMike's well crafted tracks have great melody, harmony and groove. The angst and wisdom in his lyrics convey so much and are deeply affecting. Highly expressive and genuine, this cd is a must buy for any music lover.
Great, great songs.
author: Marc Douglas BerardoMike Lasala has written the 12 songs that have been missing from the radio. This CD is full of music that you can feel. Somewhere To Be needs to be heard. Purchase this CD.
I defy you to listen to I Fell, George, Impatient, or Man Of The Road and not ta
author: Mike FranzmanMaybe it's the drummer in me, but when I listen to these songs, I can hear all the drum parts--- not a bad accomplishment considering that this release is pure songcraft stripped to the bone: voice, guitars and bass only. If a performance still comes across without drums, that means he nailed it. That being said, I think Lasala needs to call me for the bigger shows (have drum-kit will travel locally) ;-)
Every Song is GREAT!
author: JeffWinston.comCan't Take This CD out of MY CD Player. My friend Marc bought two of these CD's and I stole one from him. It is certainly the best CD I never bought. Every song on this CD is good just like the Stone Temple Pilots CORE CD. I highly recommend the Disc.
Wow!! What a Talent!
