Steve Goldberger & his bands, The Fringe Locals and the Niagara Rhythm Section

As Steve splits his time between Toronto and Niagara-On-The-Lake, he has been dubiously dubbed the "fringe local" as no one is really sure where he will be or who he will be playing with. In addition to writing, and producing records at his Shed Studio aka "Hitsville NOTL", for over 25 years Steve has been in demand as a freelance bass player and vocalist. He keeps very busy with a diverse list of folk, jazz, blues, country and R&B artists in both the Toronto and Niagara-On-The-Lake . He is often actively working in five or more bands. His brand-new 10-song disk celebrates the 4th anniversary of the Niagara Rhythm Section’s (NRS) “Saturday Night Musical Improv” at The Anchorage in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It features a variety of players who have been featured with the NRS in the weekly series over those years, some of them on repeat occasions including Chuck Jackson, Tony Springer, Lance Anderson, John Mays, Johnny Max, Denis Keldie, Neil Chapman and others. His 4th CD, is "CLUELESS". Once again, Steve and his pals put together a new album of diverse material. With thirteen new original songs, Steve hits the mark crossing over from folk to country, good old rock and roll, blues, pop, jazz and tribal rhythms, this album follows the route of his previous endeavours with writing and production levels moving up an extra notch. Steve's third album, entitled, Gumbo Dreams has twelve new original vocal tunes all written by Steve and his friends. -"Bits of acoustic folk, ersatz California country pop, New Orleans swamp rock, Celtic airs and raucous pub rock float up to the surface of this stew, truly an amalgam of alien parts. For all that, an infectious good humour and energetic teamwork lend this record, GUMBO DREAMS, genuine appeal." - Greg Quill, Toronto Star In the spring of 2002 they released thier second album called THE NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE RHYTHM PROJECT. "Steve Goldberger's subversive THE NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE RHYTHM PROJECT ... the sounds on this disc are beautiful free flowing instrumental illustrations of life in tourist heaven...A sort of mash up of folk, soft rock and jazz combined in the aesthetic of a jam band... get your hands on this disc and wrap your head around the sounds." - Pulse Niagara After surviving open heart surgery, in the spring of 2000 Canadian singer/songwriter, Steve Goldberger released the CD, Come From the Heart which was recorded live over three nights. - "...A tasty sample of musical gumbo is served up when Steve Goldberger & the Fringe Locals play their southern-fried cover versions and trans-cultural originals..." - Nick Baxter-Moore, Niagara Current Magazine
