Drinking Cosmopolitans to Country Music.

Metropolitan Sounds fused with Country & Western Music.

Although this experiment dates back to ex Sun Studios Producer Billy Sherrill's evolution of the Nashville Sound in the mid 60's, the first post 70's era "Countrypolitan" hit song I can remember was "Slow Hand" by Conway Twitty off his smooth & classy 1982 album, "Southern Comfort". It was a Metropolitan Electro Pop song done by The Pointer Sisters and then interpretted by a C&W artist. There are other modern fusions of this sometimes "Champaigne Country" style; Kenny Roger's "Eyes That See In The Dark" LP, Lee Greenwood in the 80's, Neil Diamond's "Tennessee Moon", Michael Johnson's "Bluer Than Blue" or "That's That", Lyle Lovett's "Road to Ensenada", Mary Chapin-Carpenter's "Passionate Kisses", or perhaps the perfect example, Alan Jackson's "Like Red on a Rose". WIKIPEDIA has a nice history page on it. Here are several independent interpretations of this interesting "Country-City" Minority fused genre which will never stop evolving, and annoying traditionalists. Don't count on fiddles and steel guitars in this format. Thanks CDBABY. Enjoy.
