A "soulful, poppy mix that reveals the complex... moving from the intense and fragile to moments light and upbeat."
-Launch Music Magazine

Combining funk-infused pop/rock with raucous piano playing and tight vocal harmonies, Gabriel Mann has been playing to sold-out crowds for over three years. Based in sunny Southern California, the band blows away fans with their catchy songs and an in-your-face stage show.

Their fresh sound landed the quartet as the featured new act in Launch's CD-Rom music magazine. GM also secured a finalist spot in the Lucky Strike Band to Band Combat at the House of Blues, winning the house over with their energetic stage show.

GM features afro-blonde frontman Gabriel Mann, originally from San Antonio, Texas, who brings his powerful and unique voice to the music. Says Mann: "I try to write the songs that make the whole world sing. Those were the ones I loved as a kid."

Prior to opening for Owsley and Guster early this year, the band pumped up runners in the Suzuki Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego and completed an east coast tour. GM played at 1999's SXSW Music Festival in Austin, and you'll also hear the band jamming on Fox Interactive's "COPS" video game.

Gabriel Mann is Gabriel on keys and vocals, Michael Blanchard on bass/vocals and Adam Marcello on drums/vocals. The band released their debut album, Careen, in January 2000.

Ben Ohmart of Musicdish.com says GMS is "a band that's going places. More power to their pop!"

GM is currently in the studio working on their second release, which will be sold exclusively through Borders book stores. The band won a contest through Taxi, an independent A&R company, to have the new album distributed throughout southern California Borders.

Marcello says, "our music shows our two sides - fun, upbeat pop grounded on a real rock sound." Blanchard adds, "we have an amazing time on stage, and our audience does as well. That's pretty much what we do - we love our music and play our asses off to convince total strangers to do the same."

  • incredibly, magnificently, really

Because I live in Germany, I've become, rather accidental, the attentive to Gabriel Mann (by youtube.com and the SoCaL VoCaLs). Then with CDBaby I have belonged to myself the hearing tests and had to have the album. And it is simply brilliant! Thank you for the great hours!

  • Great CD!

Really solid songcrafting, fine production, and a great blend of songs makes for one of the best albums I've bought recently. Highly recommended for listeners who appreciate melody, innovation, and all-around intelligent music.

  • It's just plain good stuff...

This is my third Gabriel Mann production in less than a month. This, of course, is an earlier studio album, and it's soulful, with great lyrics and great songs. I would give it a five, but I've heard Gabe's other stuff, which is more recent, which shows me the evolution, and it's just damn amazing. Well done, Mr. Mann!!!!

  • Gabe is a Golden God.
    author: Jon King

Combining great songwriting with first-class production and unique sounds, GMS has put out in "Careen" a model for all upcoming artists. Gabe kills every vocal (in a good way). From the soaring power harmonies of "Slumber" to the simple acoustic stylings of "Artichoke," this CD has it all. Go buy one. You know you want to.

  • This Album DOES NOT leave my stereo...EVER

CAREEN is chock-full of songs that live in your brain for days at a time....and you are happy about it!!! It really sets the bar too high for most of today's bands to even attempt to reach. Mann's voice is lush, the songs are far-beyond catchy, the writing is complex and smart. Hey, if Sonic the Hedgehog likes this album, shouldn't you? A must own. So.......OWN IT!

  • Great songs
    author: Dart

This album is filled with great songs. And that's why GMS works. This is the first album I've heard in a long time that is filled with sure-to-be radio hits. And the music is emotional, thought-provoking, and passionate. Anyway, everyone should get a copy of this disc. It's a staple of my CD collection. Gabriel Mann's intimate vocal style and lyrics make this album truly phenomenal.

  • moving, intensity, start-finish a great spin, now a staple
    author: Matt Peterson

The emotional intensity of this album should be experienced. The lead singer's distinctive, attitude-laden voice quality is artfully combined with lungs like Jupiter and the vocal sensitivity of the skin on the inside of your forearm. (Go ahead...touch it!). I consider this a staple of my collection now, and use it as a standard of comparison for other small up and coming rock/pop bands. Covers an emotional rainbow, the energy, the lyrical poetry...I can't help but memorize some of the sweeter lines, and I can't help but belt out many of the choruses. Songs with stories that awaken your own memories. Grabs me by the gut, the heart, and the head. Enjoy it and often.
