notes
'Working his piano stool like a pogo stick, Dodes played so hard the veins on his shaved head nearly popped. Now that's rock 'n roll.' -- Village Voice, New York, NY
'...the breakout potential that has started to draw major and minor labels; all smell money behind this band's hot, joyous performance.' -- Greenwich Village Gazette, New York, NY
The Josh Dodes Band has been heralded as one of the most exciting bands to come on the New York City music scene in ages. Top-notch musicianship, an exceptional live show, soulful catchy melodies, and tight grooves are just some of the factors that have contributed to this band's powerful indie success.
Funk pianist/songwriter Josh Dodes formed the JDB in 1998 after two years of increasingly successful solo shows. With the addition of several top-notch players to the mix, the band has been building its fan base throughout the Northeast at an exponential rate ever since.
The band was featured on VH1's hit show "Bands on the Run," which documented the life of four top unsigned bands on the road. Back home, the band regularly sells out the legendary Bitter End in New York City, and also plays regularly in Boston, New Haven (where they have opened for Indigo Girls), Philadelphia (where they have gotten radio play on local favorite WXPN), and Washington, DC (where, in addition to club dates, they have played the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage and the annual Kennedy Center Open House).

Great up beat piano funk sound
author: PierceI got into the JDB after watching VH1's band on the run. I loved thier cd so much that I am going to use the same mastering studio for my upcoming cd release. Listening to the CD Ihear at least 2 song that would be great for a movie or tv sound track
I was a complete JDB junkie as soon as I heard them and I get my daily fixes wit
author: CaiyceI ran to get the CD the minute I heard them play on Bands on the Run. I recently moved to New York and caught some of their shows and was absolutely impressed with how well they caught their stage show on this album. The enthusiasm they convey is upped a few notches in their live performances, but this CD is a great way to experience JDB if you can't make it to any of their shows. I was a complete JDB junkie as soon as I heard them and I get my daily fixes with this CD. I only have one complaint about the band- they need to play live more!:)

No record deal?
author: NeufAfter listening to this CD I still can't help but wonder why these guys, and gals, don't have a major record deal. They're so much better then a lot of the crap out there on the radio these days!

get GET UP!
author: LeahThis CD is fabulous. I first heard Josh Dodes live, and his enthusiasm and joy for music surpass that of any other performer I've seen. GET UP conveys that energy. This is one of the few CDs that I can use at a dance party or just for private relaxation.
I really like your site I heard of it on the music monster 99.1

billy and liza eat your heart out
author: The Arts Tribunethis artist has the voice of billy and the heart of liza adding complexity and dimension to his fabulous ensamble.
Get it before they're stars!
author: BeckyEveryone in my office can sing every word of every song. Funky, groovy, swinging and smooth. It's catchy but not annoyingly so. The best road-trip CD ever. And I hear they are great live, too.
Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous!!!
author: DianeThis is one of the few rock cd's I own and I am surprised it isn't worn out already. The tunes are memorable, the harmonies tight, and the rhythms and beat truly groove. And the lyrics are real and touching - no cookie cutter formulas used on these songs. This is one fabulous CD and a musical group fast on the rise!! Buy this cd... you won't regret it.
