Mellotrons and not-so-mello guitars collide. The explosive and category-defying instrumental music of “Z The Void” unfolds like a sonic storybook. You will hear definite influences from classic King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and The Moody Blues.

notes
"Z The Void" is the brainchild of solo artist, composer, and technophile Zane Edge, who lives in Atlanta, USA. An avid enthusiast of vintage electronic gear, Zane has an impressive collection of totally inoperable equipment. Zane finds recording time when he is not repairing or tinkering with his recording gear.
"Planets Round" is a collection of intense instrumentals rich with melodic content, unexpected changes, and contrasting dynamics. Fans say they hear definite influences from classic King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and The Moody Blues. The six songs on this CD unfold like a musical storybook with interconnected parts and transitions. Sound clips consisting of the opening two minutes of each track serve only to provide a mere glimpse of what lies ahead.
Some of the musical content of "Z The Void" is inspired by experimentation with computer-generated melody using pure mathematical expressions. This work explores the sonic parallels to the amazing visual geometry discovered by Mandelbrot and others. The second "Z The Void" CD is already underway and will include more interesting material from this experimentation.

Modern, and nostalgic
author: Bruce RayDespite a somewhat strange band name, Z the Void has produced a richly-textured instrumental CD brimming with thoughtful compositions that alternate between 70s'style rockers and slow, acoustic ballads that glide along on an ethereal airy Mellotron wind. All of this is presented in a crisp, clear production quality. I especially think the mix of acoustic guitar and Mellotron on some tracks and heavy, Toni Iommi-style guitar riffs on others is a winning combination! The slower tracks in particular have a "To Our Children's Children's Children"-era Moody Blues ambience that I particularly love. "Planets Round" pushes all the right nostalgia buttons for me. It's well-produced and expertly played ... all by one very talented Zane Edge. Highly recommended. Check it out!
