Unlike conventional Boston rock bands, Zen Ten takes the road less traveled. Exceptional and unique guitar styles blend hard edge rock with a hint of jazz, imaginative lyrics, haunting vocal melodies and a rock solid backbeat. Zen Ten`s self-titled CD recorded at Zen Ten Studios & mixed at Blue Jay Recording Studio holds 14 tracks that deliver an impressive spectrum of sound and energy.
The strength of the band lies in its diversity. Richard Cowdrey, David Redding and Elliott Cowdrey have each mastered their varied guitar styles.
The instantly recognizable guitar riffs of Dave Redding light up the perverbial sky while adding depth and texture to the recording on songs like "Reason To Live" & "Raising Cain". Richard Cowdrey brings a smooth elegance and a liquid jazz flavor to "Rain Revisited" and "Drowning Man", while brother Elliott Cowdrey, who plays a strong and ominous bass throughout the recording, also contributes to the lead guitar power of the band in songs like "No More".
Brian Downes delivers discerning and perceptive lyrics entwined in evocative melodies while strong backbeats create the foundation for the record`s energy and enthusiasm.

This band is sooo cool!
author: John T. ElliottThis CD has a wide array of song types and the band pulls them all off flawlessly....They are quite accomplished musicians....and the guitar players... are just out of this world!!!!....the vocals are excellent and the vocals and harmonies are fantastic !I'm anxiously awaiting their next release....I hope these guys aren't like Eric Johnson (for time taken to put out additional records
Pretty electic colection of tunes
author: Robert SellekGreat stuff. I would like to know where to find more recording by this band. Interesting opening melding into a very edgy Reason to Live. I listen to Drowning Man over and over and really am impressed at the maturity of the song as well as the way they were able to capture the theme. I close my eye and feel like I'm going under! Silver Side of Gold is a a great song about passing from youth to midlife. Very nice arrangement and texture. Great live version of The Fixx classic Stand or Fall! Very intersting, almost retro, guitar sounds throughout, especially in songs like Raising Cain, ESD and No More. I suspect that these guys are big fans of the legendary rock guitar gods.
