(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

"I love that song." That's what you'll say about every song on this album. This award winning singer/songwriter is on his way to the top with his traditional/modern country style, with just a touch bluegrass. Be ready for a new favorite.

notes

Zac entered the music arena at the ripe old age of fourteen with an award-winning performance at a local Jimmy Dean Country Showdown talent search. He went on to win the Washington State Championship singing the Paul Brandt song, "I Do" and a song he and his mother penned, "If I Had My Way". He has since traveled to Nashville to record with some of the city's best. The original single from his first album, "If I Had My Way", made it's way to #1 on the Nashville Tracker Charts in March of 2000 and will pull the heartstrings of the toughest bronc rider.

In the same week, Tracker Magazine presented Zac with the Male Youth Award at the 1999 Golden Music Awards Show. Zac showcased his music that night with a flawless performance at the Café Milano in Nashville. The second song, "Outta Time", also written by the Zac/Mom team, has the brand one might expect of a well-seasoned artist. It's upbeat tempo makes you want to cheer for the liberation of a tormented heart.

In the summer of 2002, Zac and his guitar were back on stage again at the Colgate Country Showdown, singing two new originals, "In Your Eyes" and "Knock Me Down", for which he brought home the Oregon State Championship.

The small town of Arlington, Oregon has listened to their hometown boy on local radio stations and watched him perform on TV shows such as Portland's "Good Day Oregon", where his live performance brought about a return engagement. They've watched him perform as the opening act for Jimmy Wayne and recently, The Jenkins, for which he was honored with a standing ovation. During a live phone interview on Tri-Cities KORD with country music star Michael Peterson, Zac was likened to a "young George Strait", quite a complement in anyone's book.

The new CD, "The Me Before You", is a wonderful compilation of 11 original songs, all with the same flavor and style one might expect of a major label artist. You can't help but picture Tim McGraw or "King George" singing any one of the songs on the album.

When Zac isn't strumming his Takamini and creating new tunes, he can be found feeding horses and fixing fence on the family's horse boarding facility or with his head under the hood of his 1968 Ford Pickup "Classic". He has been a volunteer firefighter since the age of sixteen and is an active volunteer for the local Emergency Services Department. Through it all, Zac has maintained the grace and charm of a true country gentleman. His attitude portrays a young man who has his priorities in the right place, a rare find in this day of self-absorbance. For you, Zac, we wish the best.

The music and the way it is put together gets you lost in it. You become part of the music while you listen. Definately my favorite CD that I have in my collection of great music, and artists.

The song writing on the disk is exceptional, and each song is well performed. There are a variety of styles, all well within the country/western genre, each one featuring guitar, acoustic and electric, strong vocals and backup vocals by Grooms and Susie Crosby....All in all, "The Me Before You" is a great disk on many levels, and should satisfy fans of Zac Grooms, acoustic country music, and musicians eager to learn some great new country songs.

  • The best country CD on sale today.
    author: Bob Caldwell

I bought this CD after seeing Zac perform in a local concert. Now, I would rather see Zac perform than ANY OTHER COUNTRY STAR. I'm pushing 50, and have seen several big names live including George Strait, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, Don Williams, and Willie, and Zac is the best. Every song on the CD tells a story, and it is a story the everyone can recognize and identify with. Now that takes real talent. "The Me Before You" has everything it takes to be a #1 hit. I believe every song on the CD would break the top 20 as a single if it had the exposure. Every song has a story that everyone, EVERYONE can relate to. They are honest and emotional and real. Big stars release records all the time with title songs weaker than ANY SONG on this CD. They back it up with a couple of previously released popular songs and then fill up the rest of the record with weak, uninspired recordings. I have a number of "greatest hits" records by famous names, and none of them are remotely close to having a set of songs as strong as those on this CD. BUY this CD. In a few years, it will be as rare and valuable as the independent records cut by Elvis before his discovery. It is that good.

  • These songs are warm, soothing and real. I love it!

I cannot say enough about this CD. Every song is a hit and will top the charts before long. I have 45 years of music background and I know good songs when I hear them. Zac is a natural. These songs are warm, soothing and real. He is a star, just not being paid like one yet!
