First I'd like to thank Note-Worthy Music for having the faith and foresight to sponsor the recording of this artist who I believe is destined for greatness.

Yve Evans is the type of artist that personal manager / executive producers dream of. She is articulate, witty, and knows her music. She keeps her fingers on the piano and on the pulse of Her aduience aswell.

She not only composes, arranges, and directs the band, but puts Her signature on every part of the performance.

I think of Her as well rounded (musically of course...)

PS: Completing this project is worth every gray hair i've gotten over the past five years...

so please buy this CD..........hair dye is expensive

Although not famous nationally, Yve Evans is an expressive, sometimes very humorous singer/pianist who has earned a way too small following playing around her adopted home of Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s. A native of EL Paso, TX, Evans was exposed to classical, gospel and pre-rock pop as a child and studied classical piano for 12 years while growing up. It wasn't until late adolescence that she seriously got into jazz and R&B. Evans has cited Sarah Vaughn, Carmen McRae, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, June Christie and Ethel Waters as some of her main influences, and she has also expressed great admiration for such R&B favorites as Ruth Brown, Roberta Flack, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle. In fact, both gospel and the soul music of the 1960s and 1970s have had an impact on her full-bodied style of jazz singing. One of Evans' strong points has been her wild sense of humor--in fact, she can be downright goofy at times. But as much clowning as Evans has done on stage and in the studio, she can also be a very moving, sensitive and poignant interpreter of lyrics. Though primarily a vocalist, Evans is also an appealing, melodic pianist and has named Bill Evans, Dorothy Donegan, Erroll Garner and George Shearing as influences. CDs that Evans has on the Note-Worthy label include For Jaz C Me (1990), In A Sentimental Mood (1994) and the gospel-oriented The Gospel According To...Yve (1995). ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide

YVE EVANS
To label Yve Evans as merely an astonishing Jazz and Scat-singing talent wouldn't be fair as we've personally experienced Yve do it all! Not only that, she plays piano like it's an extension of her spirit. Altogether, Yve is a powerful performer who deserves a listening by music lovers of all genres.
"4 JAZ C ME" (taken from her license plate bearing the same acronym) was recorded live to digital here at Theta Sound with Randy Tobin guiding the wonderful blend of sounds into the final stereo mix. The CD/cassette features Yve on piano and vocals performing solo, duo with bassist Michael Saucier and in trio with drummer Earl Palmer. The album covers the spectrum from hot & sassy (I'm Beginning to See the Light) to slow captivation (Someone That I Used to Love).

"4 JAZ C ME" was produced by Yve Evans, W. Prince Moore and Randy Tobin.

First heard and met Yve last spring at a Monterey Festival...words can't describe her gift! She does it right, and the songs on this CD are no exception.

Love the CD by Yve Evans and the service of Cd Baby

Both my husband and I absolutely LOVE it. Not only does this CD have so many incredibly classic tunes, but Yve's singing is amazing. I can picture a smokey, red lights, dimly lit, cocktail jazz bar with Yve up on stage. She's wearing a long, deep wine color sequined dress. I'm seated with my lover (whoops, I mean my husband!) at a little cocktail table, white table cloth and tiny cocktail lamp in the middle. As I sip my Shirley Temple (I mean, my Whiskey Sour), I melt into the melodic sound of her voice. My lover (I mean, husband) doesn't know I'm working for the CIA, and that the next song Yve will sing contains a secret, decoded message for my next assignment in Albania.... And that's what I picture listening to this CD.

  • Amazing!

Yve Evans is an outstanding jazz musician. She can take a song, shake it up and make it her own. She has her own style and brings her individual expression to the forefront in her renditions of each and every song. If you are at all interested in jazz or even if you are a jazz novice, 4 Jaz C Me is the CD for you. I want to see Yve Evans’ name in lights brightly illuminating the world of music.

  • A Winner
    author: Jerry Freeman

Yve starts right out strutting her stuff with her version of MISTY---a combination of Erroll Garner's unique chords and Yve's sass. She takes us happily thru the tune-----builds up to an espected ending and humorously leaves us hanging--lets us down easy and ends with a happy smile. Through out this C.D. Yve combines great arrangements with her strong rhythm section to bring out her wide range of styles. Her sweet and/or healthy voice evokes differing emotions depending upon her whim. This C.D.and group are winners. D.

  • tastefully different

Sometimes a song is done so well it can never be bettered. "Fever" by Peggy Lee is one of those songs. Yve Evans doesn't better Peggy's version but she doesn't take it on head to head either. What Yve does is set a second, paralell yet different hallmark. Peggy Lee had heat and passion. It was...serious. Yve has zest and humor accented with musical spices, delighting the aural pallet. "Fever" is followed by a counter paced, beautiful love lament. Then, SURPRISE! You think you're listening to a CD, but no. Yve kicks off a swinging tempo with "I'm Beginning To See The Light" and after a few bars puts on the brakes and stops the music; talks to her musicians about a mistake and you now realize you are not listening to just any CD. This lady is in the ROOM with you. She's come to your home and is giving you a private performance. What a kick! Every thing I've heard Yve Evans do is tastefully different. I'd like to see her sell a lot of albums, then maybe her producers will put more money in the CD artwork and covers. She deserves first class. Listen to Yve Evans. She is tomorrows star with star quality today.
