notes
You Say Party! We Say Die! are reaching fever pitch in Vancouverís indie rock scene with their insanely catchy beats and viciously fun live show. YSP! got their start in April 2004 with their independently released EP entitled ìdansk wadî (dance squad). Their debut full-length Hit the Floor has been available since September 2005 on up-and-coming Vancouver label Sound Document. Hit The Floor! is an energized album that is a clever collision of synthy beats and melodies which explode in danceable tracks and punk rock anthems.
Reminiscent of the vocal stylings of Yeah Yeah Yeahís, YSP! built upon textured melodic ideas that complimented their spastic, but richly diverse rock riffs. YSP!ís perpetually dance-inducing tracks have gained them considerable attention amoung the dance rock scene in Vancouver, so much that theyíve found themselves opening for Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Blood Brothers, SNFU and DOA.
YSP! currently have one Canadian tour under their belt as (Sept/Oct 2005) and are planning an upcoming Canada, USA and UK tours for the fi rst half of 2006 with appearances at SXSW in Austin, TX this March, and The Great Escape in Brighton, UK this May.
Nocturnal guitar stabs, mournful harmonies, dance-mother-fucker bass, and clanging hardcore beats ... Hit the Floor! neatly strips punk rock and politics alike to just get with the beat-- or get beaten."
-Pitchfork
"This Vancouver bands's debut is a brillitantly dark collection of spasmodic dance inducing tracks. Hit the Floor brims with indulgent sounds, rich with clever lyrics and rythmic fits and starts that make each song an explosion of exciting sounds."

author: tashaI bought this record without much knowledge of the band or of their music, and i was completely mesmerized by this record, the lyrics are insane, and the sound is a perfect blend of pop, punk and indie. Now my new obsession, you say party we say die is another canadian treasure in the indie pop scene! bring on the boogie rock..a must have record for all fans of this dance punk genre!
You Say Party We Say Jolly Good Record
author: Jan HowellHaving heard some YSPWSD on the Lamacq show via England (to New York), I had to get the album to see if the other tracks measured up to the great edgy power pop/rock I thought I had heard. Absolutely no disappointment - consistent quality songwriting delivered with an attitude. Hear a touch of '50s Spector girl bands, maybe some Blondie, certinly some Punk/New Wave attitude, but with a thoroughly modern vibe.
You Say Party! We Say Die! I Say Hooray!
author: Eli KrenikThis album makes me vibrate my limbs, jump around all cool-like, and fuel my beat-driven heart. I love you, You Say Party! We Say Die!
Catchy, danceable indie rock mixed with L7 esque punk attitude.
author: LeoUpon playing this cd (on recommendation from a friend, so I hadn't heard much from YSPWSD previously) I am immediately presented with catchy, dancy indie rock fused with powerful old-school punk punch. This album is what would happen if you gave L7 synthesizers and LSD...I say it's a good mixture.
Stupendous
author: Chris TThe best thing I've heard in years - makes me feel about 20 years younger, when a band could capture my heart. Absolutely magnificent, and they're great live too.
Awesome.
author: keithI've been listening to the CD almost exclusively since I got it. I can't get it out of my head.
Good stuff!
author: GoschI like the straight style and the originality of "Hit the floor" - sometimes it reminds me of the German band Ideal from beginning of the 80s...
amazing.
author: TborThis cd is brilliant. Great job YSPWSD!
