notes
Putting the "Oi!" into "Oy Vey!", these young, loud & snotty Australians rip out punk rock versions of Jewish classics.
Rumored to be the product of a brief but strangely intimate liaison between Mel Brooks and Sid Vicious in the late 1970's , YIDcore spent most of their formative years dodging paparazzi and eating chicken soup before discovering references to punk rock hidden in the Bible Code (the book that is, not the code itself). They immediately discarded their rabbinical aspirations, shaved their beards into mohawks, spiked them and started the band that one commentator has noted will see them go 'straight to Hell'.
With a repertoire that ranges from holy liturgy to Fiddler on the Roof and even South Park, YIDcore hold nothing sacred. Indeed, they have often been referred to as the Hebrew Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
YIDcore's self-titled debut album is rumored to be the official soundtrack for the opening ceremony of the Third Temple. If you don't think you can wait until then, act now and buy the album - they also make great gifts! It's available now on Swell Records.

The first Hebrew songs my teen brother's enjoyed since pre-school.
author: yonatanMy parents just gave me this CD for Chanuka! They can't stand it, but my younger brother (who usually can't stand Hebrew songs, and won't even sing along with us on Shabbat) loves this CD. In his words: "YIDcore makes Hebrew fun!" My new personal goal is to see YIDcore in concert, just because of how awesome this one CD is. YEAH to punk rock Jews!!
That's it!
author: AquabloodWhat an awesome sound! Love the CD so much I think I am wearing a hole in it already!
An awesome idea with an even more awesome sound!

Excellent for spiritual Pogo Dancing
author: RüdiGreat band, great album! I listen to Punkrock since 20 years. But this band is one of the top artist for spiritual beer drinking and pogo dancing. I'll play this songs in my radio-show (www.pogoradio.com)
Incredible, Original and actually Good punk, to boot
author: Beth HamonAmazing, mindblowing collection of totally punked-up Judaica. Put this CD on and free your mind from those bad memories of Hebrew school. "Al Kol Ele" kicks in a whole new way on this disc!
3 Thumbs Up
author: JennieInsanely good. Freaking awesome. I've run out of adjectives. This does indeed make Judaism even more fun, all the traditional songs I know "punked out". I desperately await new material! And the cover of Maoz Tsur...masterful.

YIDcore makes being Jewish fun...really fun.
this cd rulz its jewish music with a kickass punk twist
author: chaimthis stuff is amazing
author: Ben DeckerYidcore's first Cd is amazing, they can perfectly mix classic jewish music and hardcore punk-rock. SOme of the songs are classic jewish songs that you'd never listen to unless u were forced into it, but i'd listen to this anytime.
A new genre; Yid Core.
author: TesseraktI can't believe this! I listened to a couple of the tracks and it IS punk but it's Jewish! Well, I guess it's like other religious bands now. There is no difference between them and other bands except the occassional reference to religion. YIDcore though has to be the first of a new genre; Yid Core!
Cultural Merger to the Extreme
author: Ira RosenMost might assume that a merger of punk rock and Jewish music would work as well as chocolate covered escargot - they would be dead wrong! Not only does Yicore combine these two 'incompatible' genres, but they do it successfully (any band can play punk rock badly - these guys do it very well). My family (including my two-year-old daughter) enjoy a bit of slam dancing to the classics contained on this CD. The comic attitude of Yidcore makes this review of Jewish cultural classics absolutely precious. If you're Jewish, you owe it to yourself to buy this CD. If you're not, convert! This is what you're missing ;-)
