Album Notes

Since the age of thirteen, Rahsaan “Wordslave” Eldridge has had a passion for singing. This fervor would become the driving force during his journey as a performer. Formally, Words -as he's known by his peers- has played an integral role in several high school and collegiate musical ensembles including concert, chamber, gospel, jazz, and male choirs, along with several of his own groups. These experiences exposed Rahsaan to a myriad of genres, styles, artists, and composers ranging from Johannes Brahms, the spirituals of Moses Hogan, covers of Sly and The Family Stone, Eric Clapton and Tower of Power. While attending Towson University, Rahsaan chose the moniker Wordslave as an embodiment of his talents as a singer, songwriter, emcee, poet, actor, and percussionist. As a lifetime student of music, he is influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, Jodeci, Notorious B.I.G., Outkast, Mos Def, Common, Mary J. Blige, and Cee-Lo. The Art of Words Vol. 1, is Wordslave's fourth solo project. In addition to his vast body of recorded work, Wordslave has expanded his arsenal to include producing and hosting. He is listed as an associate producer on the Baltimore based spoken-word artist LOVE the poet’s third CD, The Chrysalis: The Rebirth of Michelle Antoinette. He can also be found the last Thursday of each month hosting Vintage Soul Thursdays, a live music series featuring performing artists from the Baltimore/D.C. Metropolitan areas. You are welcome to contact Wordslave via email at wordslavetheartist@gmail.com.
