notes

Wood's Tea Company is a musical group that defies categorization. They perform bluegrass, Celtic tunes, sea chanties, and folk songs with an equal ease and skill. In concert, the Vermont-based group draws on a wide variety of musical experience and expression. They employ as many as a dozen different instruments from banjos, bezoukis and bodhrans, guitars and tin whistles.

The Vermont based group tours the country offering a mixture of lively folk, Celtic music, sea shanties, bluegrass, and dry New England humor. The award winning band has been featured at Lincoln Center, The Chautauqua Institute, and on National Public Radio. Because of their busy schedule, they've been labeled "Vermont's hardest working folk group" by both the Burlington Free Press and Vermont Public Radio.

  • Collection of their best sea shanties!

I was so happy to find this album. I love the Woods Tea Company's songs and I really enjoy their sea shanties. This album compiles most of my favorites from their other albums. Now I can listen to my favorites on a single CD!

Excellent music that captures the sailing mistique and lifestyle. I enjoy listening to it several times each day at work. Glad it has been reissued.

I was looking for sea shanties and stumbled into this CD on the internet. I fell in love with these songs and Woods Tea Company immediately. I am an avid sailor and found this CD to be the perfect accompanyment for a fast reach on a summer's day. The celtic and folk strands in the music is perfect.

  • Most Enjoyable!

I was looking for shanties and came across this group. Since this collection CD was so much fun to listen to, most likely I will also get some of the cds that make up the collection.

  • Excellent presentation of nautical songs.

I'm a regular participant in the "Music of the Sea" Festival at the Texas Maritime Museum in Rockport, Tx. I've heard many groups who sing sea chanties. After listening to this CD, WTC would rank among the best. I don't select the groups that sing there but I will pass WTC's name to the director and hope to see them in Rockport.

  • This is not review, but rather a suggestion. Could you stock some CDs and tapes in Top Variety in Sherburne? Everyone in town goes into the 5 & 10 and I know many people who did not have money with them last night, would like to buy your music. The owner is Mike Westbrook - 607-674-4811.

  • My first experience of woods Tea company and I'm in love.
    author: Julie Hurd

I was searching for sea shanties and came upon this Cd and and within one time of hearing it,I was in love. Not all of the cuts were shanties but it didn't matter. The music evokes the feeling of being in the company of people that have been on the ocean and have wonderful tales to tell and in the telling have beautiful harmonies and great music to do it. The combination of musical instruments gave texture and set the right mood along with the wonderful voices. You can't help but sing along. I looking forward to more listening pleasure of Woods Tea Company.
