notes

Maria Woodford is a traditionally ear trained musician who has been writing and performing for 11 years. Maria has also performed in a variety of theatrical productions and has appeared on over 18 studio and live albums over the past four years. In 1997 Maria produced a compilation CD ("NJ Bands: a benefit for Children's Specialized Hospital") which received critical acclaim in her region as one of the best indie compilations to come out of the tri-state area by some of New Jersey and New York's toughest critics. The project raised over $5,000.00 and all of the profits were donated to The Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ. (Check www.mp3.com for sound bytes.) Maria Woodford released her first full length solo album, "Brighter Path", on November 12, 1999. Check review section for more information on the album...and don't forget to listen to the sound bytes!

Currently, maria Woodford is performing in an acoustic duo called Duende with singer/songwriter/guitar virtuoso Alex Radus (www.cdbaby.com/radus). As a duo, Maria and Alex have brought their music from coast to coast. In 2000, Duende travelled 30,000 highway miles, played countless venues, and performed on 8 full length releases. Tour dates are available on www.musi_cal.com. Duende will be releasing their first CD as a duo this summer and will be following the release with a tour of the USA.

  • Beautiful, sensitive melodies that will stay with you...
    author: Dawn Lee

This CD is very moving-with beautiful vocals and a variety in her songs that shows the changing moods throughout her life. Maria's guitar is a perfect mate to her voice-which is a clear, perfectly pitched sultry sound that has so much feeling it will leave you in tears. Yet, in her songs, she shares so much of herself, it will leave you saying, "You go,girl"! Gotta get this one-or you'll regret it!

  • "power and passion... run (don't walk) and get this CD."
author: The Acoustic Scene, Arizona (may 2000)

Maria Woodford has a beautiful voice filled with power and passion. Her talent for melody lines and song structure are impressive. I can really appreciate the way the songs change direction. This 13 song CD makes for a great opportunity to hear what this singer/songwriter is all about. the production of the CD was well managed by musician/producer Scott Hallock. I would suggest you run (don't walk) and get this CD. I recommend finding out Maria's performance schedule when she is back in Phoenix in November. This girl is going to the top! Keep up the great work, Maria!
