Great Pop/Rock with strong Harmonies and fun lyrics

It started in the Greene's basement in Searingtown, NY in the early 70's with 45rpm records, plastic baseball bats , and a toy drum set. The first time the band decided to name itself it made the ill-advised choice of "Tuberculosis." The band wisely changed their name to "White Lightning" and then shortened it to "Wite Lite".

The band began to shape itself in the Big Guy's basement in Boonton, NJ , and then in various studios at the Jersey Shore. It was at this time that the core of the band was formed:

Mike Manchisi - lead guitar (formerly from PMA)
Tom Greene- bass guitar (formerly of Rugburn)
Kevin Finnegan- rhythm guitar and political lyrics during Republican administrations
Bill Greene - (previously with the Nukes, Badbeets and Benders)

All four of the band members provided lead and background vocals

Other family members provided contributions: Patty Doyle vocals on "Caroline"( one of my favorites), Frank Manchisi on flute and a thankfullly brief stint on the saxophone, Timmy Doyle on keyboards, and the quiet one, who simply goes by the name of "Zach", on Jack Daniels and kick-ass blues vocals.

Perhaps the best music recorded by the group was when they teamed up with a keyboard player named Townsend (no relation to Pete) to produce "Ebby's Lament", "Finnless", "Working on Wall Street" and "Train Surfer". (All of these songs appear on the disc) A music agent by the name of Frankie Mann was so impressed with these songs that he had them copyrighted. Since then the band has continued to record originals and play in the St. Louis area.

    This CD has something for everyone. From the Beatlesque Over You opener to the Christmas With Me closer, WITE LITE's Best of truly has it all. What Am I Waiting For, Plastic Flowers and Train Surfer showcase the band's heavier side while Wall Street evokes the corporate greed of the 80's and still holds up today. Legalese and Getting Better highlight the problems with the legal system and the unfulfilled promises of employment and health care in the 90's. Pop hits like When We Were Younger, Richie's Room blend strong harmonies with excellent song construction and Can't Go to Sleep is a cross between Jagger and ZZ Top. There is a lot to like about these guys. Check it out.
