Known for their timeless hits, "Rock Steady", "And the Beat Goes On" and "It Just Gets Better With Time", One of the most respected and enduring vocal groups in the music industry, The Whispers, with a stellar career that spans over four decades, has released their latest CD entitled, "For Your Ears Only”. It charted on Billboard's Top 100 R&B/Hip Hop at number 94 on September 2. It’s been 9 years since their last CD (Songbook, Volume 1, Songs of Babyface, released in 1997), and fans have been clamoring for a new collection of songs perfected by their smooth, harmonious voices.

The musical community continues to let its voice be heard in support of this nostalgic, classic, soul sound with a contemporary ambiance that has virtually disappeared under the overwhelming dominance of Rap and Hip Hop. But Dee Bellington, a fan in San Francisco says it best, “You Guys Are One Of The Few Artists That Have Not Forgotten That There Are Still Millions Of Us Out Here That Want And Need To Hear Some Compositions Of Depth And Weight. Butta, Hold On, Don't Say No, You Name It! This Whole Disc Nearly Made Me Weep Because Of The Nostalgic Aura Released Into The Air. The Atmosphere Just Changed!!!

“For Your Ears Only” is the first to be produced on the Whispers’ independent label, Satin Tie Entertainment, which is headed by the Whispers themselves. It’s a heartfelt project and is definitely created for and dedicated to their many fans as a way of saying thanks for all of the years of support”, says Nicolas Caldwell, singer/ songwriter of the Whispers.

The song collection is a mixture of classic soul, rhythm and blues, jazz, and pop, performed in “pure Whisper” tradition from the classic “Don’t Say No” penned by their musical director Grady Wilkins and Road Manager Alonzo Ward, to the smooth, sexy “Butta”, written and arranged by the great Teena Marie. On Valentine’s Day, wives and lovers will be serenaded with the passions of “Diamonds”, “Love Stroking”, “Hold On” and Nicholas Caldwell’s “Love”. On the dating scene, guys looking for a soul mate can woo them with Ollie Woodson’s “Can I Get Next To You” and “It’s You” (Nicholas Caldwell and the Whispers’ guitarist Emilio Conesa). For the dancers and steppers, “Get It On” and “Love Won’t Let Me Wait” will electrify the party goers and add a touch of soulful, funky class to the local DJ’s night club collection. The “Believers” and “Fans” were not forgotten; “I Sing This Song For You” is dedicated to the Man Upstairs whose gifts of song and songwriting elevated the Whispers to where they are today. As for their longtime fans, the last song on the CD, “The Whispers Love You Too” says it all: “My heart compels me to tell each and every one of you, if it’s the last thing I do, I pray you know it’s true, the Whispers Love You Too!” Whispers’ fans will not be disappointed. A Collector’s Limited edition of the CD will be available at any of the public venues where they will be performing beginning Mid February.

Don't Say No is in the classic Whispers mold of Are You Going My Way. Vintage Whispers. My favs are Love, Butta, and the scat on Can I Get Next To You. This is vintage Whispers, and I just can't get enough. My co-workers have to shut me up at work (Yea, I learned the words) Can't wait to see you guys live on Thursday 2/22/07. Omarion, this is what Uncle Ricky means when I tell you the difference between singing music and making music. This CD shows not only do the Whispers sing the music, they also make mucis. I really didn't anticipate the ripple effect of the new album because I was under the impression it was a limited release to be sold at the concerts during Valentine's week of 2006.     With some much beautiful music already recorded, I did think The Whispers could do anything bigger or better...but I was so wrong, this new release is ranks high above all the the others. They truly get better with time...and I honor their longivity and honesty for sticking to their original purpose.     I have a huge, extensive soul collection and I don't hand out gushing compliments easy, but I'll say it: This is the best album (all genres) of the year! This is an amazing album and it's nice the guys came back and delivered us the goods in the ol' Whispers style. From the songwriting, the production, and amazing singing, this is the best soul album by anyone in several years. From the opening track "Get it On" it's just sensational. I really liked "Livin It Up" a melancholy song about a guy who is partying since breaking up with his gal, but not really living it up as he's missing his gal. A beautifully disguised song. I've heard people can't find this CD at the big box stores just because the group produced it on their own label, and as noted in the below review, Clear Channel isn't playing it because they'd rather play crap from major labels. Don't go down that road, support this group, one of the best groups of all time. This album is legendary, hopefully we won't have to wait another decade for the next great Whispers release!

    As a former on-air personality and long-time Whispers fan, I have not been this excited about a new release of music in a very long time! I just picked up The Whispers new release, For Your Ears Only, and I can't stop listening to it. A friend of mine is an on-air personality with a Clear Channel station and he turned me on to it. Speaking of which, he tells me that they aren't even playing it. I can't believe that -- which brings me to my next point. We need to make our voices be heard about this new release, particularly since it is self-released and not on a major record label. We all need to call radio stations and DEMAND that they play it. That way, more people, more Whispers/ Old School fans that have given up on contemporary 'music' will become aware of it.     A friend lent me the CD and OH MY GOD!!! Had to go out and buy my own copy. I love eveything about this CD. It is classic Whispers and has some of the most romantic love songs that I've heard in a very long time. This is on my computer at work on repeat, in my CD player at home. Wish I had a cd player in the car b/c this would definitely be there also. If you are debating whether or not to purchase this CD. Please, do yourself a huge favor and get it.     Once gain, the wait for the new Whispers CD was well worth it. From start to finish,it moves ever so smoothly. Every song is sung with the unique, smooth singing that only the Whispers can sing. It is indeed just like 'Butta'and most definitely " For Your Ears Only ". It is as great a CD as they've ever done. Five Stars.

    It's been a long wait, but well worth it. If you like your Whispers with a huge amount of the classic soul sound that you remember from them from the late 70's and early 80's then you have it with this new cd from the guys. Nobody can do it better than the boys. This just oozes sheer class from start to finish. Although this cd has a classic Whispers feel to it there is also a new edge to the music that should win them some new fans. This CD is jam packed with good grooves and the vocals are just top notch. It's difficult to pick out stand out tracks as all of them hit the spot, but "Get it on" is a good dancer in The Whispers best style....go on, have a listen and buy this CD with confidence. Another good CD that will definately be one of the top releases for this year. WELCOME BACK GUYS :-)

    It's tough to believe that it has been a quarter century since the Whispers topped the charts with "And the Beat Goes On." It's even tougher to believe that in 2006 they still sound this good. For Your Ears Only, the Whispers' first self-released disc, is also their first album in nearly a decade, and I must admit I didn't know what to expect. Well, what they deliver is an engaging performance that should be a delight to their sizeable fan base.

    Nine years is a long time to wait BUT this CD is well worth it. Butta, Love Strokin' and many others are just amazing real soul tracks for 2006. This is major label quality without the major label thinking. My top pick is the essential Don't Say No which wraps itself in a classic Whispers aura, mixed with a classic 70s Philly vibe and then goes into orbit with a jazzy twist. Amazing return. Hooray for the Whispers!
