notes
"The Day Dawns" is a cheery collection of music representing the winter holidays in the British Isles. Suzanne Weller, a classically-trained, professional flautist in Northern California is producer and arranger of this Celtic collection and plays flute, piccolo, alto flute, wood flute, guitar and keyboards on the recording. The selections are augmented by superb performances by Deborah Simpson on oboe and English horn, Joanne Tanner on Violin and Viola and Diann Klink on background vocal intonations.

Beautiful, excellently played and recorded
author: Gary LehrerThis is a great selection of songs with wonderful arrangements, skillyfully played and recorded. This CD has an extremely live feel to it, it sounds like the performers are sitting in the room playing. Although this is a collection of Winter music, this is great for listening any time of year. Very relaxing and soothing. A great addition to any collection of music.
A beautiful representation of this cherished folk medium
author: S. D. Doughty, Santa Ana , CA. National Flute AssociationThis beautiful CD has been in my player since Christmas and I love it. Ms. Weller has brought each selection into the 21st century without losing their essence with her creative and very musical sensibilities. I'm Irish and I appreciate the reverence Ms Weller showed the music, no matter what instrument she played, flute, guitar or piano. Rather than let her enormous talent overwhelm the tunes with showing technique, she let the beauty of the music speak with all its beautiful, delicate simplicity. Bravo, Suzanne, for being a guardian of roots tradition! Give it a listen, you'll love it.
A Cheery bit of mood music
author: Mark WMs. Weller really captures the feeling of a Celtic winter, both the austre and cheery. The arrangements and playing are true to the style of music, proving Weller did her home work and is a real musician. There is a sensitivity and and clarity in each piece not found in the usual overproduced CD. I loved it.
Pass this one by unless you need a sleeping pill! Dull & boring!
author: Edwin WycoffThis CD sounds like it was made by a classically trained musician, who couldn`t make the last chair in an orchestra. Do yourself a favour and pass this sleeper by, and get the real thing. "NONESUCH MUSIC" is a good place to start, for international music.
flutes are amazing
author: TIA KNIGHT-CD BABYI love what she has done on this cd...so magical in all ways!
