Why WEEP?
Because it feels good. WEEP plays and is named for the gorgeous sad music that tears your heart out. But there's a disclaimer: WEEP reserves the right to give you stellar upbeat music too.
WEEP with katie plays jazz-styled pop and pop-influenced jazz standards. The musicians have the knowledge and skill to take some musical risks. Jazz rhythms might be combined with rock bass lines. WEEP's music is a sophisticated but accessible mix of the soul of jazz, the energy of pop and the heart of country. Sprinkle in a dash of killer funk so you can boogie occasionally too.
WEEP consists of Katie Ulanov (lead vocals), Art Baguer and Cliff Brennan (bass), Jim Harrold (keys), Dave Meade and Christopher Heinz (drums) and Jeff Pierce (horns). Together and apart, there is awesome talent contained in WEEP. Katie and band members have played with other artists such as Max Roach, Brian Setzer, Phoebe Snow, Mike Stern, Tony Bennett, Shawn Colvin, Wayne Shorter and many others.
Check out WEEP and see why the saddest things can make you so darn happy. Who knew? Life's a conundrum.
Personnel on the disk: Katie Ulanov, vocals; Paul Triff, drums; Ted Firth, keys; Mark Wade, upright bass. Recorded LIVE at Euphoria Studios, New York City.
CRITICS ARE RANTING AND PRACTICALLY RAVING TOO:
"...filled with great musicianship and fronted by the adorable Katie Ulanov, who brings a knowing, sad yet hopeful spin on all her lyrics..."

Wonderful voice, great treatment of classic songs
author: Aidan LangleyThis CD has great classic songs and Katie, the singer, has a wonderful voice. While listening I was trying hard to think who she reminds me of. Peggy Lee? Rosemary Clooney? Please buy the CD and tell us what you think. My only criticism is that the CD is too short - next time let's get 60 minutes of great music!

I really like this CD! These songs are for those of us who like to dream, to hope, to love, to just go with the music. It's a unique and smooth sound, and I can't wait for more!
