A heavy record like no other, Weathering is soulful and alive, incorporating a range of sounds not typically heard in metal (cello, Rhodes, children's choir...). And within the lyrics of these songs lie a power and poetry to both scare and inspire.

notes
What do a Fender Rhodes, cello, children's choir, and horns have in common? Heavy Metal Music.
They are all part of the eclectic and inspired sound of Weathering, a new self-titled album of original heavy metal.
The band Weathering began as a labour of love for two brothers -- the classic combination, a drummer and a guitarist. They wrote music inspired by the traditions and evolutions of such bands as Metallica, Soundgarden, Faith No More, and Jane's Addiction. The album Weathering, however, emerged out of the tragic loss of guitarist and singer Aaron Granville-Martin (say hello to Heaven!).
Built upon some hard-hitting demo recordings, Weathering is a heavy metal record like no other. It is soulful and alive, incorporating a range of sounds not typically heard in metal. And within the lyrics of these songs lie a power and poetry to both scare and inspire!
Produced and recorded at The Nucular Libary in Toronto, Canada, Weathering is one of those rare finds for the collector of obscure metal. And it surely has its own place in any collection of good music, period.
Here are some examples of lyrics, on topics like...
The environment -- "At the Harrowing of Heaven"
"Help me understand why you let us shave you bare, scrape your womb for weapons, kill your children...As we in inquire with thumbscrews and the bonfire, you respond with spring."
Western greed and oppression -- "Hit by War" (written pre 9/11)
"I feel a change in the weather
I hear a ruffling of feathers
I see some whisp'ring together
I hear a snapping of tethers
And I see their Molotovs blaze
In disgust with hypocrisy
Blood will glow as red as dawn's rays
On the free of technocracy"
Jesus -- "Eucharist"
"In the beginning was the word Love...
In the bread and wine,
In the way we dine,
In the aquiline,
And the serpentine,
In the brier's spine,
And the afternoon sunshine.
How fall into the hands you sought to open wide?
We fall into the hands of machination."
And, of course, Satan -- "Black Wedding"
"Satan's my friend and his sister's my love."
