highly recommend
author: maursTo evoke such intense & emotional responses to her music Melissa is a true artist. There are few. This album proves she is one of them.
Like nothing else
author: TrineThe first words that comes to my mind are THANK YOU!!! Thanks for the music, the lyrics , the sound and "the thing" I have no words for! Melissa speaks my mind and setting words to my feelings better than I could ever do myself! I am totally in awe of her work and talent. I am so grateful that there´s artists out there like her!
Great Sound
author: Bad Dog BarHaving just heard of Melissa I was drawn to this CD for the song "Drive". Though the rest of the music on the CD is good, it did take a few listens before they really attracted me to want to sing along or get a rythm going while I'm listening to them. I don't usually buy CD's for a single song but consider this one worth it.
Very Good, Melissa
author: jack17Yes, I Love this Very Good CD, Music, Tracks and More! Mellissa Ferrick is a Beautiful Songwriter & Guitarist: Sensibility & Power!!! Jack from Switzerland
Very good throughout with two exceptional songs
author: jim"Drive" and "Hold On" are the kind of songs you can still really, really enjoy even if you play them constantly. They're both danceable and "Drive" has this almost sinister build up. If you enjoy the music of Patti Larkin, Aimee Mann and Lucinda Williams, there's a good chance you'll enjoy Melissa Ferrick's "Freedom" as much as I. I went ahead and got four of her other albums on the strength of this one.

Melissa is by far my favorite artist. My ex borrowed this album "Freedom" from her brother. I first heard the song "Drive" and decided it was absolutely the sexiest song ever sung. Every other song was equally incredible so I bought the cd, the first of my Melissa collection.
Fantastic!
author: CherylFreedom is an incredible c.d.! It has drawn me in and aint letting go. Have you ever had to hear something over and over and over? If you havent, you will now. Wonderful stuff! Theres songs that'll make you shake that thing and then theres others that will sit you down right where you stand because its just so beautiful how she puts the words right out there...and then theres songs that'll make you smile and nod your head in a yep ive been there kinda way. Thanks Melissa.
You'll be hooked by the first song
author: LillyLast year I was lucky enough to be dragged to a melissa ferrick concert by a friend of mine who promised it would be a worthwhile study break. Only about 35 people ended up coming to the show but it was so incredibly worth it. She sat in front of the crowd (if you could call it that) on a small stage w/her guitar and nothing else. From the moment I heard her first song I was hooked. Immediately I went out and purchased Freedom and had each song memorized by the end of the week. She's honest... she's brilliant... she's one of the most tallented artist I have ever come across. There is no better break-up song than "Some Kind of Nerve" you can turn it up, blair it and sing along- just listen to it and you will know what I'm talking about. It doesn't matter what you are.. gay, bi, straight... as long as you have ears I promise, Freedom is an album worth listening to.
One of the best cd's I have ever bought
author: IlonaFreedom is one of the most incredible cd's that I have ever had the privilege to listen to. Every song seems to tell an tale that you can relate to in some way. Songs like Freedom and Blindside make you want to crank up the volume and sing along unabashedly. Since I bought this album it has not come out of my cd player. Buy it now!!
Low Budget Brings High Quality
author: Christy JohnstonIt's hard to imagine that $5,000 was able to produce such a masterpiece of musicianship. But what do you expect when Ms.Ferrick, herself, is behind the helm? Freedom has the honesty, passion and conviction elements that were trademark in the past four albums, but this time the message is shouted. This is no girl-gets-girl/girl-loses-girl story, rather it's a declaration of self-discovery and triumph. With each listen of Freedom, you are drawn into Ferrick's message of empowerment and then walk away with it still ringing in your ears. Ferrick, thankfully, continues to develop as a lyricist and instrumentalist which only adds credibility to her staying power. If you're looking for a blend of up-tempo, guitar-string-breaking songs as well as pensive soliloquies, you've come to the right place.
