notes

Complex experimental pop music exploring grand human themes such as love, war, peace, spiritual evolution and politics. A sophisticated blend of acoustic intrumentation and progressive electronic elements forging an impactful, innovative sound. Wade's voice is the unifying factor in the music, his heartfelt instrument is a raging and compassionate muse that blends style and emotion unlike any other, at one moment both prayerful and raging he disarms the mind and accesses the heart of the heart.

Wade McCollum grew up on the road. His father is a drummer and Wade was born into the life of a travelling gypsy band tribe. Conceived in "Foolish Pleasure" (the band), later they joined "Reflections" and then "Tracer." Wade spent his early childhood years on a mad unconventional adventure traipsing from town to town in a sparkling green 1978 Dodge van, ala Scooby Doo. His parents are intrepid loving souls who encouraged Wade to go to the edge, challenge the status quo and always speak the truth.

Wade's music is an open letter to the world. His unique perspective and sound come from his unusual upbringing. His honesty and individuality permeate every note on "Beauty Is A Streetlight," whether melodically screaming for the pain of those caught in the horrors of war, or wailing a prayerful love song, his voice conveys his love for humanity and passion for peace. Wade speaks the truth about the gravity of our global situation, yet somehow assures us that we are going to make it through.

I worked with Wade in theater back in 1998 in a production of "Into the Woods" in Southern Oregon and he is a beautiful, resonating, deep man with compassion and insight that radiates through the room. I have met some amazing people in my life journey and Wade is definitely at the top of the list. Insightful, magical, peaceful, powerful, radiant, beautiful and magnetic. He carries a message that defies words and a heart that deeply cares for every human soul on this planet. His music speaks love, acceptance, peace and belief of all that is beyond what we see.

Unreal! Well produced, stellar musicianship, heavenly melodies, and a clear truthful message. I think I've burned out my copy already, playing it to death in my car as I drive the streets of Los Angeles daily. It keeps me company, makes me cry, and most of keeps the soul of the amazing Wade McCollum nearby. I encourage all to own this CD so that they too may be enlightened to his unique soulfulness and talent!

Good lyrics, like poems, should assault our psyche's edges and soul's peripheries leading us to personal and universal truths. These do, in more than full measure.
