The long awaited self-titled debut disc from Chicago natives Voodoo Jones is now available!
You can finally take home one of the most entertaining blues acts around.
These guys did a great job capturing that "live show excitement" that all of us fans throughout the Midwest have grown to expect night after night.
The band has been winning over thousands of fans throughout the Midwest since 1997.
It's everything you'd expect from a tight Chicago blues act and more.
Together, all four members make up one of the highest energy blues acts around.
They are constantly working hard at building upon that loyal following one show at a time.
They've got some upcoming road work dates planned in support of their new release.
So, make sure you keep checking www.voodoojones.com to see if they're coming to your town.
If you're ever in the Chicago-land area, get out to see the band in their home town and enjoy them in their true element... Trust me, you'll be very glad that you did!
Anyone who's into Luther Allison, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert King, Albert Collins, etc... will really enjoy hearing how Voodoo Jones frontman/guitarist John Joe Ambriz mixes all of these great influences with his playing, vocals, and his amazing showmanship. If you've ever caught him live I'm sure you'll agree he plays his guitar better behind his head than most can right side up.
This great band also features some slick Chicago style harmonica work by Steve Berek. You can hear a lot of his musical influences in his playing as well... there's a little Jr. Wells, James Cotton, Sonny Terry,Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, etc... his playing really complements the band well.
The bands tight rhythm section is equally talented and really shines both live and on CD.
On the bass guitar is Gabe Backstrom. His low-down funky grooves are matched only by his polished bass lines, effortless fret runs and snappy walks. Just listen to one song and you can easily hear how he got his
nickname "Smooth".
On the drums is Steve Fleischman. This drummer is always in the pocket. He really excels with both the Chicago and New Orleans styles. His great touch and driving snare work really sets this band apart from the
rest.

I just wanted to blog and say that I saw Voodoo at Redfish and I was captivated by their style and the way they commanded the audiences attention. Even when they took a break all I could do was talk about the way they played and I have been hooked since. I must say the Bill Withers rendition of Aint no Sunshine with the brotha on the flute sent chills up my spine and the lead guitarists solos were unreal and unlike anything I have seen since moving to Chicago....It is a must see for those that have not
