Vic Thrill is a super freak born out of the bowels of the music industry. The band was founded by former members of the Bogmen and Garden Variety, both were successful touring bands in the old millennium. After the demise of both bands, with much unfinished business, the two camps fused their exotic alternative and indie punk in the electronic realm. The live show ranges from full-on multimedia, electronic circus extravaganzas to trashy basement gigs.

The vibe is fast and furious positivity. This is the CD that will stay in your stereo for months.

Vic Thrill's CD, "CE-5," produced by Robbie Adams (U2, Smashing Pumpkins) is the bands first full length release on Circus Clone Records. "CE-5" (Close Encounters of the 5th Kind, see liner notes) delivers a sonic shout out to the far reaches of the universe, and soon there will be an answer.

    Crap. If you are venturing to this band because you were a past Bogmen fan, go back. Do not pass GO. And save the dough. Campion goes for a newer sound and just misses. He misses by such a wide margin it would not be a shock to see the Bogmen get back togather as it has proven the easiest way for the front of the band to make a living. Mark my words!

    Nice work. Updated Devo mod/trance thingy going on. Kinda like Jesus Jones without the wussy-factor. Goes well with hipsters at a bbq. But not entirely even. Since the length is a bit short by today's standards (40-something minutes) there are a few songs that don't stand up to the rest. But that's a nit. Looking forward to the next release from these guys.

    This is one of my favorite things right now - the music is fresh and infectuous, and the joy taken making this music is obvious. This CD reminds me what I love about listening to, and making, music. It's crazy and raw--but not sloppy, everything belongs. The energy and focus and inventive spirit of these songs cannot be denied. The grooves are solid and original, the vocals are joyous and crazy, the lyrics are sci fi and cool. It all sounds like a damn good time. I came to this CD 3 or so years after it was made--I heard a brief snippet of "Hummingbird Pneumonia" on a radio story, and was on CD Baby within 5 minutes ordering the CD. It caught me that quickly.

    Song Splat has become a permanent spreading shell of barnacle on my skull. This is the ONLY post-punk electronica out there period. This experimental CD is skating on the 'primal-future of synchopated beats with a dash of paprika' plane. I spend most of my time listening to music on my iPod while web designing stuff from my office desk and i swear i sit here on the verge of moshing in my seat with a goofy glazed smile. if theres' ever a time where i wanna be the born again guy shaking a snake with his eyeballs rolled back to his head, its due to this little gem.     I loved The Bogmen, and now I love Vic Thrill. I ordered this CD because Billy Champion is one of the best rock singers out there, and I was not let down. Vic Thrill uses every sound out there -- and it seems, well, LOGICAL. Vic Thrill's CE-5 is one of the most exciting CD's I've heard in the last five years, and I buy entirely too many CD's.

    I hardky ever see a band live and think to myself i want their CD now....but Vic Thrills live show here in the UK was amazing, bought the cd the next day and was not disappointed. Its kinda psychadelic-drum'n'bass-surf rock. Amazing originality in the songs. you have heard nothing like this before. lots of fun and makes me want to jump around.

    CE-5 is an original recipe! This CD is a musical meal with foreign flavors. WOW! The more I spin the disc, the more my taste buds adjust to the unfamiliar flavors. I especially enjoy tracks 2, 4, and 7. I must say that some of the electric effects on the vocals, are a tad overcooked for my palate. The entree, of Vic Thrill however, earned gourmet status in my book. I guess I’m a purist when it comes to a fine wine, or a good steak. When the steak is that good, you just don’t need any ketchup. Vic Thrill is the fine wine, the choice cut of meat, or however you want to say it. Anyway you phrase it, Vic is a rare talent, and when the ingredients are that good, the meal is going to be great. CE-5 is definitely a leap from the corporate menu of the rap burger with pop fries. …a refreshing leap I might add. It’s different and it should be if it’s going to be original. The only thing this CD is missing is exposure. Spread the word, Bird! This CD will spin!

    Every time Billy Campion reincarnates himself as a songwriter and performer, it raises the bar of my expectations from other art and artists. Vic Thrill's CE-5 is no exception. This is avant-garde music without the pretension, brilliantly heady stuff you can't help but dance to, and an incredible extended meditation on happiness (usually a word that makes me wince) achieved by embracing absurdity, chaos, and change. CE-5 is proof that art can do everything at once. Cheers, Vic. I cannot stop listening to this CD. (The only thing better is watching the band perform these songs live. It's unforgettable.)
