notes
Graced by rich melodies and sensual rhythms, Vibhas music explores the essence of beauty and consciousness.
Vibhas has been playing music his whole life and toured the U.S., Europe, and India and released three CD’s, two instrumental and one with vocal harmonies. His music has been described as “gentle, blissful relaxation” and creates an atmosphere of peace and well-being.
Vibhas grew up in Germany and studied piano and flute from the age of five. While receiving a degree in music education from Goethe University, he had the privilege to study with Rolf Bissinger, flutist for the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra, and with Matitjahu Kellig in classical piano, well known for his Mozart interpretations. Studies in Latin percussion and traditional instruments from many countries were all influential in his creation of original world music, melting genres from East to West.
After years of teaching and performing in Europe, he traveled to India where he was introduced to meditation, and to the beautiful classical sounds of the bansuri, or native bamboo flute. He met and studied with world famous flutist Pundit Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
In 1997 Vibhas visited Sedona, AZ where he met Prasado, who became his wife and singing partner. It was here that he first heard the haunting sounds of the Navajo flute. Playing these traditional native flutes around the Southwest for the last seven years has brought him much praise from the local Native American population, who are fascinated by his intimate feeling for this ancient instrument, and the longing he expresses through it.
Prasado grew up in a musical family, playing piano and singing since early childhood. As a teenager she was introduced to yoga and meditation. Like Vibhas, she also traveled to India, where she lived for eight years. Living and working at an international university she had the opportunity to study many styles of music-- including the ancient art of raga chants--with the famous Dagar brothers. She accompanied herself on the tanpura, a 4- stringed instrument used in traditional Indian music. She also spent many years singing harmony in different combinations of Western and Eastern styles.
Further vocal studies with Swiss born Chandra Maeder and Katherine Latorracca encouraged her to develop her own natural style of singing. Returning to the U.S., her solo career took off, and she has been playing in a duo with Vibhas since 1998.
In 2003 they recorded their first CD together, “Flowers of the Dawn,” with nine soulful songs that touch the heart. Prasado’s rich natural voice has a quality of healing and relaxation. With Vibhas’ gentle flowing accompaniment on piano and flutes, they create a fresh and original sound, embracing the mystery of love and beauty.
“Light on the Path” is Vibhas’ first solo instrumental recording. Meandering softly from romantic piano melodies to native flutes, it is a peaceful journey through lush landscapes, both haunting and beautiful. This CD is perfect for elegant background music, massage or yoga, creating a warm ambience, heartfelt and timeless.
“Longing,” with its rich variety of native flutes played over smooth Latin rhythms, creates a happy peaceful feeling. Great for yoga and easy listening, it is both soothing and uplifting for the spirit.

author: Lori AndersonI just love it. My boyfriend & I vacationed in Sedona for 5 days and I took over 500 pictures during our adventures hiking to the Vortexes and other beautiful places in Sedona as well as the nearby Jerome. I searched for many hours for the music that I wanted to add to my Sedona Vacation Slideshow. This is it. It is just beautiful & it sets the perfect to venture along in our travels.
