notes
Life for an artist is hard enough. But what happens when you actually get what you want. For Vanessa Renée this is a big question.
In her new release, Stay, Vanessa addresses the question of the elation, security, emotion and pure indescribable happiness of the time when you are in love. A time when you are lost in the thoughts of the moment and the other person, when nothing else seems to matter.
For example in featured songs such as This Life, Vanessa talks about the little things in life like the safe and secure feelings the other person gives you that nothing in the world can affect you when you are in love. That you can have all that you hope and dream for.
However, as we go through the journey of life we don't realize we have a good thing until it keeps showing back up. This is the message of the song, Fall. A song, which reminds us that sometimes coming back to the same person, is a good thing. You can look all over and hope to find it in others but it's already in one person you can easily find. While the title song, Stay, simply states that at some point in time, you just get tired of playing the looking for love games and let your guard down and let the evitable happen.
While most artists dwell on the bad end of relationships or ricochet from one to another, Vanessa Renée reminds you of a valuable lesson. When you finally find the love you have been so desperately looking for, enjoy and appreciate all that it brings.
"With soaring vocals and melodic keyboard, Vanessa Renée blew away the crowd at Little River Band's show here, and since has become a popular staple"

"Stay" is a beautiful flower in a world that has far too many weeds!
author: Terry PearsonAfter listening to Stay, your soul will feel better. The simplicity of the instrumental back-up really lets Vanessa's voice blossom while simultaneously adding a comforting richness. Stay will bring warmth to your heart and should be in everyone's collection.
Love musicians & inspired music? "Stay" is for you!
author: Thomas IsbellFrom the first to the last, "Stay" is a creative tapestry of honest lyrics woven together with beautifully crafted music. The title cut "Stay" is the kind of song that you will love to hear again and again. It's pure lyrical honesty about the hope that accompanies that very moment when you believe that you've found "the" person in your life. Tracks 9 and 10 (Fall, Come Back to Me) are haunting and simply beautiful. "Candy" stands out as the premier track on this recording; a jazz feel that seems to dance around the listener's ears like a fun-loving child. It's difficult to find recordings that possess continuity and the ability to hold one's attention throughout. Vanessa Renee's "Stay" has that ability and so much more. This work is a true creative treat for the ears!
An intoxicating experience; a musical quilt of velvet and chenille
author: Timothy MatinFrom the fun of the opening "Some Girls" and "Thank God" to the intoxicating escape of "Free," this CD about life and love will grab you with the authenticity of Vanessa's songwriting and sucker-punch you with her velvet jazz vocals and piano. No risk here, boys and girls. It will blow you away and make you come back for more.
