Great album
author: Tomas SvobodaThis songs and compositions are very well crafted. With sensuality and an exact sense of the rhythm. Colored as a unique France chanson. The electric guiatar is in addition to the piano in background as excelent as may be with rock in its mynd as well as drums. In the end, the saxophone player stands as some vocalist which is the best possible alternative. In summary.

Demonstrating great talent and skill, this CD serves up some very soothing piano and saxophone-led compositions. The recording is cystal clear, allowing the finer details of the instruments to push through. Moreover, the percussion arrangements on this album employ great creativity and hold these tunes together like glue. Everything about this CD, including the interesting songwriting, and especially the musicianship, is top notch. “Fly” demonstrates the mesmerizing sax melodies that bring these instrumentals to life. “Paris” introduces a very nice electric guitar lick, adding to the instrumental diversity. All around, this album radiates musical passion, creativity, and excellent production. This is an excellent addition to any jazz collection.

author: Sandy ShoreVali & Saxolution is an amazing Austrian band, featuring impeccable musicianship and engaging melodies that will truly entrance you with their grace and sophistication. The word “genteel” comes to mind as I listen to this extremely well-produced and performed collection of ten original compositions. The piano work from leader Vali Saciri (an orthopedic surgeon by day) is as precise and at the same time inventive as one would expect from a man with his skill set. The sax work from Wolfram Dullnig, with an impressive resume of European performances, is likewise brilliant in its simplicity and tone. Peter Prammerdorfer’s acoustic and electric guitar parts are always appropriate and further embellish the group’s overall sound, as do Clemens Herzog’s keyboards, harmonica, and e-bass guitar as well as Markus Wendlinger’s drums and percussion. These are unquestionably World-class players. Select any of the tracks on this album and you’ll be pleased. This is extremely intriguing music… understated, organic, sensitive and artful, but above all, quietly dynamic, much like a masterful painting comprised of subtle colors and patinas. There’s no forced loudness or bravado here, but instead the power of this music comes from structure and harmony, from melody and nuance, from rhythm and texture. This is a marvelously well-constructed set of contemporary jazz… consistent, cohesive and truly satisfying to the ear. Art and true beauty of expression don’t have to shout at you to get your attention. Vali & Saxolution’s SLEEPING GIANTS is stunning proof of that! ~SCOTT O'BRIEN
