My name is Valerie Wright and I've been a New York-based actress for twenty years, appearing in musicals and plays on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theaters, national tours, television, film and concert work. However, in the year 2000 I became a mother and my performing slowly shifted from a paying audience in thousands of theater seats to my inexhaustable little boy in a highchair. I then began to improvise songs that soon stuck in my head and found their way onto a new album of tunes entitled Green Beans on the Floor.
The inspiration for this self-produced album was not born from the need to write children's songs, but rather the involuntary act of communicating with a six month old. So, in the midst of spooning strained peas, loading up a diaper pail and stepping on squeaky toys in the dark, rhymes and tunes began to emerge. And with the help of some talented friends in the business, we cooked up "Green Beans" for kids and parents alike.
The cd's show tune-like songs range in style from calypso to French waltz to doo-wop to blues. It has been described as witty, instructive and fun.
I so hope you enjoy it. It was a blast to put together and my goal is that not only your kids, but you the parents or babysitters will get a kick out of the lyrics and hum the tunes. Thanks for checking it out!

author: Valerie KovitzWhat I heard of the musical snippets is delightful and will tickle my 6 year-old twin cousins to pieces. I can't wait to see them when they hear it. Valerie Wright's voice alone makes each piece a treasure as well as the imagery.
