I've been a fan of Valerie Landsburg since the days of Fame. I was so pleased when I found that she had released a CD of her own, GrownUp. As I write this, I tried to think of which song I like the best, but the truth is, the entire CD is so wonderful, I couldn't just pick one. I love to listen to Valerie...always did...I always will. I hope she releases another CD soon! Grown Up hasn't left my CD player since I purchased it. It's a truly wonderful and masterful piece of work by a talented artist. Way to go Valerie!!

Dear Valerie, Thank you so much for this wonderful CD. I've followed your career since the wonderful days of Doris, and this CD has not disappointed. I've cried with 'Never Never', laughed with 'Girls', though I was never really into pink!, and 'Middle Child' is unlike any song I've ever heard before. It's beautiful! My favourite on this CD, Valerie, is 'Endless Sea'. It touches my spirit unlike any other song. Its very special. Thank you. Please keep on writing music, producing, and doing what you do. It brings such joy. Thanks Valerie.

  • A Work of Art
    author: Katherine in L.A.

I absolutely love this CD. It is difficult to pin it to one genre but one thing for certain...Valerie Landsburg has a magical voice that can evoke you to feel some kind of emotion. There is everything from the thought-provoking personal tracks to just plain fun. I can listen to this CD on a loop and not even be aware of how long I've been listening. I never get tired of it. I hope that one day Valerie will grace us with her vocals again.

  • Fantastic
    author: Amanda from Ireland

I have always loved Valerie's voice from her early days in Fame. It is fantastic that she has released this cd for both herself and her many world wide fans. This cd is very soul full and inspiring. Both lyrics and music are very well written. I love the new version of Hi Fidelity. Thank you Valerie for this cd.

  • A VERY WELL WRITTEN ALBLUM AND A GREAT VOICE
    author: ROSE FROM THE UK

As a Dj i have heard all different genres, and artists through the years but this album is very well put together. one track i really like was girls. even though it was a studio album, girls sounded like you actually listening to Valerie live, how many studio albums could make you think that. I love this album and cannot see why anyone who loves good music would not like this album. all i can say is please can we have another album. i would love see Valerie perform live, no matter the cost because a performance like this is priceless.

  • A very fine CD.

I visited Valerie's web site and listened to the samples of Grownup. Something about the warm familiarity of her voice instantly captured my attention. I knew at once I had to have the CD. I love the acoustic guitar work on Love Song and those haunting harmonics. Endless Sea has a deeply personal lyric woven around an exquisite melody. I can imagine someone like Neil Young singing this. The new version of High Fidelity is a joy. Lee Curreri's sublime talent imbues the song with a mellow, laid back style, which Valerie's soulful vocal compliments perfectly. The voice of Mr. Radio adds an unconventional twist to proceedings giving the whole production a sparkling originality. Nice touch also to include a classic image of Lee and Valerie from their Fame days in the lyrics book. So many great songs here and I've already said enough but special mention must also be made of Never Never and Middle Child. Valerie's music has a delicate yet compelling quality that is hard to resist. So why try? Buy the CD and you'll be glad you did.

  • A wonderful CD!!!
    author: Kevin

Having been a fan of Ms Landsburg since the FAME years, I would have been predisposed to giving GROWNUP a favorable review. I am delighted to say this CD is wonderful, and I haven't taken it out of my stereo since I received it. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves good music, thoughtful lyrics, and a beautiful voice.

  • What a talented singer!
    author: BRIAN MATTOCKS

Valerie ought to have made some of the critics of Fame stand up and take note that the kids were not talentless but an awesome force, more so when solo and here is the evidence if any was needed. She shows she is a fantastic singer and songwriter while Fame showed her off as a great actress and vocalist. Words fail me, she is great...but I have to say she ought to have left hi-fidelity alone as that was the weak point for me.....the original was brilliant as it was.....hope we get a follow up one day. BRIAN

  • FAME
    author: J. CULKIN

I saw Valerie on a tv show the other day called "THIS MORNING", i live in the UK, anyway she sang 'HI FIDELITY' the new slower version which is on this CD, and i must say i really liked it, she does'nt sing all the song, some parts are a bit like a rap, well not a rap as such, but it's different, the rest of the album is quite slow, i dont usually like slow sad songs, not that there all sad, but they did something to me, ,made me feel, made me listen, because lot's of songs i've heard i just don't listen to, i don't hear the words, this CD made me listen, Valerie had something to sing about, and i heard it all, well done, take care, best wishes. Jonathan, from UK.

  • Thoughtful music, really puts you at ease
    author: Dan

This CD is really great if you've had a stressful day and just want to "zone out" for a while and clear your mind. The music is relaxing but it is also very thoughtful in Valerie's lyrics. This CD is a nice change from a lot of the mainsteam music out today because it doesn't rely on sex and glamour but rather the songs are very "Real" and easy to relate to. Definetly buy this CD and see what a true artist sounds like.

  • Fabulous Debut! When's the next album being released?
    author: Paul Dunkley

I new Valerie would come up trumps with her solo debut album Grown Up. It's an eclectic mix of mostly self penned songs that get you singing along after just one listen. Thank goodness for liner notes with song lyrics I say. Whether you have heard Valerie sing before, or whether you're a new listener, you'll be playing this album time and time again guaranteed. I just hope it's not twenty years before Val releases her next one.

  • Stunning voice and great songs :-)

  • Relief from the brash and trash
    author: steve q whoeler

It is great to hear such soothing music in this time of all cacaphonous rap and vociferous heavy metal. This cd was very refreshing and probing of emotions. It reflects many sensative ideas without brash histrionics and overdone arrangements
