The group toured twenty countries, appearing in the major capitals (Paris, London, Brussels, Rome, New York, Djakarta, Berlin, Jerusalem, Singapore...). Downbeat magazine considered UZEB one of the best electric jazz groups in the world.
When the group disbanded, it had earned 9 Felix awards (Jazz Album of the Year in 1983-84-86-87-90-91, Group of the Year 1984-1989, Most Famous Performer Outside Quebec 1990), a Gémeaux prize in 1989 (best original music), a SOCAN prize in 1990 (jazz category), a Musique Plus prize for the UZEB CLUB video, and the Oscar Peterson prize in 1991, awarded by the Montreal International Jazz Festival. In July 1992, UZEB made its farewell at an outdoor stage at the festival before 96,000 people.

Amazingly Good
author: Michael TrioloUZEB is an unlikely combination of musicians in the sense that they are all so enormously talented at their craft and they work so well together. Their sound is hard hitting and at the same time complex. It takes you through a whole spectrum of emotion. The guitar playing draws you in to make you want to hear every note. I can truly say this is my favorite Fusion Jazz album ever. The recording quality on "60 rue des lombardes" is not the greatest. It is hard to hear how well the guitar, keyboard and bass are played. The drums do come through and the percussion on this track is some of the best you may ever hear. I believe there are 3 drummers doing riffs back and forth kind of playing with each other. The band is very creative in their use of musical "extras' (staccato, dynamics, melody, improvization, modulation and lots more). It is sad to hear such a great group of players has split up not to be hear from again. I know I'll miss them.
