An engaging upbeat collection of quirky funny songs made to appeal to librarians, bikers, folk-polka fans, jr tolkien heads and other even more fringe elements of our society.

notes

This collection of songs are all songs that I use in live situations to lighten the moment. They all came from quirky conversations with friends, usually funny, or just my own twisted take on life. "The Folka Polka" was a tune I wrote for my Dad for his 77th birthday in an attempt to have him finally comment positively on some aspect of my songwriting career. His comment? "Well, Joe, that was SOME song." (Hey, it's a start.) "Frodo Baggins" came from my deep depression upon reading the Tolkien trilogy for the 3rd time and realizing that I would never accomplish in my life what Frodo Baggins accomplished in his. My delightful wife, Kristen, said if I can't write a song about that, I'm no "real" songwriter. There baby.
"Therapy Jar" also was inspired by Kristen who noted to one of her patients that "No we are not saving money for our kids college education, but what we are doing is that every time we think we've screwed up as parents we throw $20 in a therapy jar, for our kids of course."
The "Self Employment Swing" was a late night song I wrote in an attempt to exorcise (no, not exercise) the small voice inside my head that is constantly reminding me of the 10,000 things I have not accomplished with my day. This voice is the bane of all self employed people everywhere. It is what makes us great. It is what makes us crazy. It is what makes us.
The rest are all also fun songs, but my favorite right now is the "Librarian Song" which you can find on You Tube if you google it. It is a song I wrote for the Colorado Librarians Association last year for their yearly conference. It did NOT go over well. Sure, now that it's had 14,000 hits on You Tube they all love it. . . but that first performance. . . was a little bit of HELL for me. Bitter? nah.
The last two cuts are educational songs I use for a program I do with schools educating kids on seeing the earth from the perspective of an astronaut. A portion of the proceeds from this album go to benefit a program called "The Earthseeds Foundation" which is a Colorado Springs based non-profit and the original inspiration for the kids program.
