An album that represents the birth of a New Gospel Jazz movement, a style foreseen as a prominent force in the future of music.

notes

“Jesus Saves” is an album that brings a revolutionary change to the way we hear jazz today. Debut album by drummer Uros Markovic, joined by a superb group of musicians, pianist Eric Lewis and bassist Reginald Veal, represents the birth of a New Gospel Jazz movement, a style foreseen as a prominent force in the future of music.

Gospel classics such as “Holy Holy Holy” and “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” are delivered in a stunning new way. With Eric Lewis, winner of numerous piano competitions and Reginald Veal, featured bassist on chart-topping jazz releases, Uros Markovic invents a new concept of time, resulting in a heavy grooving “ super swing” that can be heard on “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” and “Blood Running Warm”; on “Wade in the Water”, Uros features 27 different rhythms played at the same time.

Uros Markovic has been a fascinating presence on the New York music scene since his arrival in 2000. He is a musician that has been the talk of the town, with so many people wondering- who is he really? Uros has a unique perspective on performing music and has been hailed as a polyrhythmic wizard. He does not play secular music. Uros has been playing in homeless shelters and rehab centers and is a member of the ministry team at Bowery Mission and New York City Rescue Mission. Currently his life story is the theme for an upcoming feature film.
