notes
In the last four years Urban Tranport has proven to be one of the most exciting jazz groups to come out of the Detroit area. Urban Transport features band leader, composer, and trombonist Vincent Arvel Chandler, alto saxophonist and composer Dean Moore, bassist Josef Deas, drummer Sean Dobbins, and pianist Scott Gwinnell.
Urban Transport Live! is a brand new CD that features all original compositions performed live at the Kerry Town Concert House in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Take note of the warm, soulful sound and accessible style generated from the trombone/alto sax front line, elastic rhythm section, and emotionally driven compositions.

Awesome Sound
author: ninetta montgomeryThe sound is refreshing and offers great songs performed live! Must have!
Great Jazz
author: Gregory DozierBeing from Detroit and enjoying the great vast of talent that the city has produced. I will have to say since the days of Coltrane I have not heard since a raw and joyous of Jazz in years. The music comes from different talent but they come together to make their own unique and wonderful sound. I love the way each artist display their talent with their solos and I so Love the way they combine their souls into one. Love CD have to have it in your collection. A must have.

This is THE TRUTH!
author: Tommy GearhartThis album is such an ode to what jazz and artistic expression really can and should be. Urban Trnasport's abilty to take the listener on a mystical journey (live, I might add) with them is quite special and certainly refreshing in this modern day of overly cerebral and egotistical jazz that can be heard in many groups in NYC. But do not be confused, these arrangemnts and original compositions are extremely interesting, complex at times, and simultaneously accessible to all who are willing to take the ride. There is no doubt this sound is an affect of an evolutionary product of Detroit’s amazingly dense culture of music. Though these cats all possess unique and strong musical talents with impressive jazz pedigrees, the real treat is when these individual anomolies collide on the same bandstand and produce something powerfully new and fresh with a deep respect for the past, present and future. I had the recent priveledge of catching them live at Burt's in Detroit when I was touring out that way last March, and this CD is the next best thing. With the recent addition of the beastly drumming of Andre Wright, it is very evident that these monstrous players are on their way to setting a new tone in jazz. This is THE TRUTH! BUY THIS ALBUM - you will NOT regret it! Tommy Gearhart - New Mexico
Great playing, great sound.
author: Peter Ibbetsonthis is a great release from a great band. the tunes are good, when it swings it swings out of the room! i would recommend this album to anyone with sense, the line up of trombone and alto works great with the acoustic rhythm section. thank you urban transport, i look forward to future releases.
This is the freshest newcomer's CD we have heard in very long time
author: JBDEach track tells a story from a time go by, when player ready took the art of Jazz very serious. The music is well planned and written for the love of beautiful tones. This style is very truth to the Jazz masters of Days gone bye; you feel the heart of each player working those grooves.
Excellent
