notes
Ruth Ungar is a singer/songwriter who grew up in the folk music world, went to college for acting, and eventually became a touring musician.
She currently sings and plays fiddle, uke, and guitar in multiple bands, including The Mammals, Sometimes Why, and Wayfaring Strangers. She is best known for her emotive, multi-styled voice with which she makes the old sound new and the new sound old.
This solo CD was recorded in 2000 and released in 2002.
Each song on "Jukebox" is an individually crafted piece. Moody grooves that range from country and swing to modern pop provide the backdrop for some truly powerful singing.
Musicians on this CD include: Jay Ungar, Molly Mason, Michael Merenda, Sam Broussard, and Horace Trahan.

Beautiful girl , Great talent . Wish I were 80 again
author: P.F.BronkThis is a very tasteful, well executed recording . Sunday Kinda Love never has sounded better.
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME VOICE!!!!
author: East Benton FiddlersOutstanding lyrics! The songs flow smoothly from one to the other even when the style of the music changes. This could only be accomplished by such a versatile female vocalist as Ruth with her unique voice and incredible vocal range. Basicly, it doesn't matter WHAT type of music she happens to be singing because anything and everything she sings sounds great!
Ruthy invites you into her room, thus you feel her heart
author: Jim WilgusThis CD is not for light listening,it is a very emotional group of songs and are delivered beautifully by a very good performer.Ruth writes her songs about the trials of love and life, and they aren't always cheery and happy...just as true life .The players on this CD lovingly played and helped contribute to one of the best debuts that I have heard in many years.I can't wait to hear her next solo project. Ruth's voice is very similar to a very young Maria Muldaur, yet she brings so much more to her songs.Ruth is a very accomplished musician, playing ukuleles of many varieties as well as guitar on this collection. She is also an excellent fiddler, and I hope that she includes her fiddle work on her next CD.
Mezmorizing...... ahhhh.....
author: T-Bird the MichiganderThis is an awsome CD.... Ruthy has such a beautiful voice and playes that fiddle and Uke like no other... I had to have this CD and would buy any other with the name Ruth Unger attached to it!

Ruth has a gift of showcasing and framing each song rather than the singer. She sings I'm So Lonesome with such soul I swear she and not Hank W. wrote it !
Soulful

We saw you in Omaha last year and truly anticipated this cd. Love the renditions of some old favorites . . . and the outstanding musicianship throughout! You play a mean uke!!
