notes
Chris has been playing guitar for 50 years now and as a way to celebrate he has pulled out all the stops on this CD! This Latin/World Beat Flamenco Guitar album is as beautiful as it gets! It’s refined, yet raw and passionate too.
Besides the incredible guitar work, There is wood flute, piano, and even Mariachi style trumpets used in some of the tracks while bongos, shakers, and Brazilian Rosewood sticks provide the classic Latin beat in all the tracks. No conventional drums or "rhythm machine" is used and dance is to say the least, strongly invoked!
About half the tracks are “Bare Bones Classic Hot Guitar” stuff with a strong bass and rhythm section and the other half have production with fully orchestrated “film score” type backing: all done the real way, played one track at a time with no “midi sequencing” Just carefully thought out and perfectly executed arrangements.
Styles incorporated in this project are Latin Jazz, Film Style Music, Classic Flamenco, Mambo, Native American, and even some Gypsy Music which is why one can truly label this CD as "World Music".
While Chris is hard at work doing music for film he says he will always find time to get CDs like this out about once a year.
Not too many people know that besides being a musician Chris Gussa (or Dr. Christopher Gussa) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbal practitioner and sees patients every day.
