Mary Sue Twohy's smooth vocals dancing above subtle, expressive guitar garnered her a 2000, 2001 nominations for Contemporary Female Folk vocalist, Contemporary Folk Recording, and Song of the Year and 1999 Best New Artist Award from the Washington Area Music Association. Azalea City Recordings, Carroll Street presents The Risk Involved, Mary Sue's second recording effort, produced by Pete and Maura Kennedy. Perfection is too mild praise for The Risk Involved !
author: Diane SteinBeautiful voice, beautiful arrangements, beautiful songs. Every song tells a story that you want to hear again and again. I first discovered Mary Sue Twohy from her live concert on XM, and then from her DJ work on XM radio (Channel 15, The Village). She is a star to follow - superb in every way.
Brilliant!
author: Jan HammondI became an instant fan from the first listen. Mary Sue’s vocals along with the instrumentation are purely brilliant! Her music touches me very deeply and I highly recommend this CD… from start to finish, you won’t be disappointed.
Worth The Risk
author: Robert MatterMary Sue Twohy has selected some wonderful songs to include on this CD. The Risk Involved is a fine work of both musicianship and vocals. Throughout the CD, the listeners will find themselves intrigued by renditions of the cover tunes as well as the fine original songs. The selection of songs by great songwriters like Si Kahn, Nick Drake, Richard Thompson, Nanci Griffith and Kevin Briody blend well with Mary Sue's own compositions. The risk involved of purchasing a CD by someone you may be unfamiliar with is certainly worth it in this case.
Griffith nr 2 starts where Nanci stopped
author: Pieter from HollandThe trigger for ordering this CD was the name Nanci Griffith, being a hugh fan from her. Mary starts here music where a certain time Nancy stopped, but is lucky returned to. Dreamy songs, best singer songwriter material. I was very happy to learn there is more and ordered the other album direct. That's what you have to do folks, orther both.
