With a voice that’s “out of this world” (Green Man Review), Kym Tuvim has won over audiences and critics across the globe. Her music has earned honors from the likes of Acoustic Guitar and The Performing Songwriter magazines to the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New York (Emerging Songwriter Finalist, 2005 & “Most Wanted” Preview Tour, 2006). Her seasoned guitar work borrows from folk, pop, jazz and blues, seamlessly blending genres with an intricate and deep groove, while her songwriting delivers lyrics that are truthful, smart and emotionally vulnerable. A versatile and captivating performer, her down to earth, openhearted style can have the audience laughing one moment and tearing up the next.
Kym grew up surrounded by music. Her father is a pianist and her mother's father was a pianist, composer and bandleader. Kym was writing songs before she started school and was a multi-instrumentalist by 15. In 1987, she moved to Seattle to study jazz at Cornish College of the Arts under such greats as Julian Priester, Jim Knapp and Hadley Caliman. After graduating, she took to honing her craft in local Seattle venues. When she released her 1996 demo When Allegra, the lo-fi cassette won raves and support from regional and national folk radio and press, as well as a spot at the 1996 Napa Music Festival's Emerging Songwriter's Contest. In 1998, Kym released her first full-length CD. Later that year, The Performing Songwriter Magazine selected it as one of their "Top 12 DIY Releases" and featured a cut from her debut on their 6th CD compilation.
Kym tours regularly around the country performing her music in listening rooms and festivals, house concerts and colleges. When at home in Seattle, she teaches piano to a long list of blossoming maestros.

Amazing CD!
author: Will ThompsonFrom her voice to her writing to the playing to the production, this cd is amazing. But her lyrics are what stay with you. My favorite songs are "Mercury" and "I Will." Definitely give this a listen.
Amazing!
author: TeresaI am not sure if there is anything else I can say here that hasn't already been said. Kym is a most gracious, warm person and I met her AFTER I fell in love with her cd. It has rarely left my player since buying it. Her voice and the feeling in her music grabs your heart; there was a song she played last night (live performance) that is not on her cd that brought tears to my eyes. I could definitely become a groupy! :-) Don't hesitate to buy this cd!
you MUST buy this cd
author: andreaThis is, hands down, the best cd I've bought in the last couple of years. BUY IT, you'll thank me for it later.
highly recommended

"On the Mend" is a healing, a series of messages from one lover to another, an "I" addressing a "you" in every song. Kym Tuvim delivers the messages with a voice alternately confident and vulnerable but consistently sensual. The arrangements are band oriented as the same players contribute to most tunes. Many of the songs swing, often driven by relentlessly syncopated rhythm guitar. A case in point is "Trouble", one of two songs on the album some Shania-like artist should record immediately. "Trouble" starts with the rhythm guitar pattern against one sustained note from Jason Bendickson on the bass. The voice comes in, singing one verse stanza just above a whisper. The speaker tries to convince herself everything will be okay, but no... Two bars of acoustic guitar by itself and the band enters, bringing all of her turbulence to the rest of the stanza. Try not to tap your feet. The chorus arrives. She’s in trouble. Each successive chorus will build in volume and drive. A full stop introduces the middle section. The insistent voice duets tensely with Julie Wolf’s Hammond B-3. The background vocals increase, the sound of breathing more and more agitated until the whole band enters and takes the track out. The listener’s been through one very rocking wringer. "Hard" is also ready for the country with its sing-able chorus and Dan Tyack’s slide. On the one hand, the lack of specificity in the lyrics (there’s not a single name and hardly an object) and the uniformity of subject lend this disk a same-y quality. But let it grow on you. "On the Mend" will win you over with literate lyrics (the quicksilver lovers in "Mercury" wait "for the mercury to rise"; the lover in "Falling Rain" knows "about sitting fences" but what you don’t know about letting down your defenses could flood the earth") and the skill of the supporting players. Check out Phil Peterson’s cello on "Mercury" and Tyack’s dueling dobros in "Fly Away". And, listening to the emotion, sincerity, and earthiness of Tuvim’s vocals --mixed well in front-- will convince you she's fine now and getting better all the time.
Kym Tuvim is a genius songwriter and captivating performer.
author: Clara GeorgeI never buy CDs anymore because it is hard for me to find artists that I really want to spend $15 on. All of that changed when I heard Kym Tuvim play live. I KNEW I had to have her CD. On the Mend is one of my favorite CDs that I have purchased in the last five years. This CD is better than anything you will hear on the radio. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CD! Anyone who listens to it will be a Kym Tuvim fan for life!!!
what are you waiting for?!
author: angrummanwithin a week i fell in love with kym tuvim and her music and received this cd. she has a voice that fills an entire room, poignant instrumentals, and timing that is unique and smart. she draws her listeners in before they even realize it while telling the stories of every one's life with grace and maturity. "on the mend", "hard", and "i will" are my current favorites. if not for the music, buy this cd to read the liner notes because they are so wonderfully sweet and will make you smile. but seriously, buy it for the music, too! anyone who appreciates indie/rock/folk music will find this album hard to take out of the cd player. what are you waiting for??
You can feel her music in your soul
author: RoseI hesitated to write this because I wanted to find the words that would motivate everyone to hear Kym's music. I haven't found them yet...all I can say is there is not a song on this CD that disappoints. Music that is not only heard, but deeply felt. Outstanding effort! Thank you Kym.
THIS CD IS A "MUST HAVE!"
author: GayeStumbled upon this CD, and I can't put it down. Truly one of my favorites of all time (honest). Over and over it goes in my cd player . . . the music is so incredible and the lyrics are delicately powerful. You will be absolutely amazed!
highly requested!
author: Anna Creech, WRFL Radio Free LexingtonI introduce my listeners to a lot of great music on a regular basis. Ever since I started playing tracks from this CD, I have been getting weekly requests for more. Keep up the good work Kym - I can't wait to hear what you'll come up with next!
...A worthwhile treasure
author: Tyler Champley/NowOnTour.com"On the Mend, should be a worthwhile treasure for any fan...This album is masterfully arranged...The acoustic guitar work is superb and additional musicianship of the bass, drums, banjo, cello, pedal and lap steel for example are equally compelling. The lyrics are unforgettable, but the way they are delivered by Tuvim is the real secret. The timing is so perfect throughout her songs...This is a singer I will definitely be looking forward to seeing live in the near future. I whole-heartedly recommend this album and a concert ticket to accompany it."
I love your new record from start to finish!
