notes
Saxophonist, Kyle Turner is a native of Houston, Texas. He began playing music at an early age and soon found himself as one of the most recognized young musicians in the area. During his time at Smiley HS, Turner became friends and a protégé of then Houston resident Kirk Whalum. He attended Jackson State University on a music scholarship.
Kyle left Jackson and soon found himself performing on stage with a virtual Who’s Who in jazz and popular music. Some of the highlights include Live at Wembley with Luther Vandross (DVD), tours and concerts with Kirk Whalum, Johnny Taylor, Bobby Lyle, Joe Sample, and others.
In 1990 Kyle relocated to Austin where he released his first CD as a leader entitled It’s time. His second CD, Sincerely Yours, was also well received and opened even more doors in the smooth jazz scene. After moving to Los Angeles, Kyle released his third CD, KT3. Turner has now come full circle and relocated to Houston and now teaches both privately and at Westbury HS. He is very proud to now be able to take younger players under his wing and offer guidance. His 2007 Collection CD is a retrospective of his previous CDs along with some new tracks with Fingerprints and Michael Ward. Turner also employs the the production and arranging talents of keyboardist, Darrell Lavigne.

Melodically Devine!
author: Venisha EarlyThe Collection is one to keep in your personal jazz collection. Kyle Turner does an awesome job of mixing earlier work with a few new surprises. His rendition of Janet Jackson's Anytime, Anyplace is absolutely flawless. Shadow of Your Smile is sure to be a timeless classic. Worth every cent.

Great mix of smooth sounds
author: Alan NixI have heard this guy with Regina Belle and had no idae he was so deep. Turns out he has 3 other CDs. I love his take on The Shadow of your smile. He plays with a lot of passion. Track 5, Feeling your Vibe, is an instant classic for smooth jazz. Also, Janet would be proud of his long version of Anttime, Anyplace. Reminds me of Kirk Whalum but is more daring and free. That is high praise cause Kirk is THE Man. The live instruments really make this CD work cause it is some real band playing and not all sequencing. Great Job!
I love the cd, it is awesome he's a great sax player. love kevin
