notes
Truffle's 5th CD, That's Right (2005), is the latest body of work from a band that is in it's 19th year of playing together. This new collection of songs, penned and arranged by all the members, is by far their best and most mature recorded music to date. They combine quality songwriting and strong, memorable melodies in a tasty sounding package with interesting production ideas. The eclectic mix of styles from song to song is pulled together in a cohesive fashion by Truffle's distinct, trademark sound.
Truffle has toured all but ten U.S. states headlining many respected venues as well as supporting international acts such as Dave Matthews Band, Little Feat, Phish, and The Band to name only a few. They have released four previous records (one for the November/Sony label) and have contributed to three Dave Gerard CD's and countless compilations.
Truffle has released five albums, "Dish Me In," "Talking With Ghosts," "Nervous Laughter" (for the November/Sony label), "Out Loud", and their latest effort, "That's Right" "Live at the Stone Church, Vol. II" compilation as well as Gerard's three solo releases, "Memory Hill", "Losing The Boy". and "Dreams of Kings"
A Truffle performance is a physical experience. There is an energy that exists between the band and the audience which cannot be described by the materials involved here. With dashes of R&B, reggae, bluegrass, soul, and Cajun thrown into the Truffle stew, you need to come and experience this band for yourself.
Reviews
"Truffle does it again with "That's Right." Each song has a life of it's own. "
-Spotlight Portsmouth Herald
"Superb songwriting, strong musicianship and diverse grooves, plus the joy of making music: That's what "That's Right" is all about. Look for this one on year-end "Best Of " lists. I know it'll be on mine. "
- The Wire, Portsmouth NH
"This CD ("Truffle - Out Loud") is truly what good music is all about."
- Spotlight, Portsmouth Herald
"Ned Chase remains a stupendous songwriter, and Dave gerard is one of the best singers I've heard, period."
- Face Magazine
"Truffle is musically tight, their lyrics are inspired and they do not rely on gimmicks for appeal. Instead, truffle offers songs with the listener in mind - songs that have been masterfully crafted and arranged."
- Showcase, Foster's Daily Democrat
"Dave Gerard, lead vocals, tears into the heart and mind with a
smooth, low tone and insightful lyrics on Storyman."
- The East Carolinian
"David Bailey's bass playing is superb and brings depth and strength to Memory Hill."
- Northeast Performer
"Out front, Dave Gerard, whose over the edge raspy vocals and commanding guitar work is enough to satisfy most concert goers itself. And you have guitar, mandolin, lap steel wizard, Ned Chase competing for the spotlight night after night."
- Jamnation (Forth Worth, TX)
"Chase's solos are a string of pearls."
- Portsmouth Herald
"These guys have played with many of the hottest acts touring today, seeing most of the acts for than five times, I can honestly say that an evening with (Savoy) Truffle at the Fox sounds as good as any of the rest."

author: MarissaTruffle is a wonderfully superb band that has it all: great vocals, thoughtfully crafted songs and brilliant solos including guitar and mandolin!. Every track is a winner, the music is uplifting and inspiring, and Truffle's talents are apparent from the first notes of Lost Dog Blues. Developer's Blues, Now I Know, Harbor Master, and Captain Molases are stunning! as well as Summer and That's Right. If you're looking for an album that will move you and inspire you, this is it! thank you, Truffle for sharing your amazing talents!
