notes
True Blues is a three-piece rockin' blues band that began performing in the Greenville, SC area in 1990. The band features its strong original tunes, which are written primarily by guitarist/vocalist Joey Gunter and drummer
Joe Cash. Bassist Pete Cash lays down the bottom for this powerful trio. A favorite at local festivals and events,
the band has been tagged "Greenville's House Band" by the owner of Greenville's most popular music venue, The Handlebar.
The band members' influences cover a broad spectrum of American music. One can hear hints of jazz, rock, soul, funk, and raw Delta blues in their playing styles. A typical set at a live True Blues performance would include a healthy dose of originals mixed with covers by Stevie Ray Vaughan, B B King, The Allman Brothers Band, Cream, and Duke Robillard. Over the years, the band has had the good fortune to open shows for such well-known artists as
Johnny Winter, Savoy Brown, Delbert McClinton, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Three Dog Night, The Marshall Tucker Band,
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Koko Taylor, John Hammond, and The Guess Who.
True Blues' first CD, "One Night Only", was recorded live on a hot Saturday night in 1998 before an enthusiastic audience. The twelve original songs released on this disc were only part of a three-set show that kept a sellout crowd swinging, swaying, and singing along until well after
midnight. From start to finish, this recording will have your feet tapping and your mind's eye focused on the lyrical artistry of these crafty performers.

Fat ass bass + Little Feat + Stevie Ray
author: SRHThis cd starts out with Pete Cash's fat bad-ass bass and works its way through a fine mix of bluesy tunes. The chunka chunka rockabilly strut of "Fading Fast" and the big Les Paul guitar on "Your Girl" defy you to sit still. "Little Sister" is a song Little Feat wishes was theirs. The cd has Stevie Ray overtones to it as well.
Just like the title says, "True Blues!"
author: TimThe CD is almost as good as hearing them live at the Handlebar. Now that the band has another member, they're even better. I only gave it a "4" because I had to save a "5" for their new CD!
If you think this is good, wait until you hear the stuff they've been. working o
author: ArnoldThey've gone into the studio to put out a new CD, which will be available before Christmas. 14 - 16 new songs, one ancient blues classic redone and maybe one repeat from the 'live' CD, but it will be a different studio arrangement with their new Keyboardist / Lead & Slide Guitarist extraordinaire, Professor Bill Pappas. I can't wait to hear the completed prodct. It sounds even more professional than the 'live' one, not knocking the excellent first one at all. You should buy one of the "live" ones now, because they're running out. Then when the new one comes out, get it, too. You won't want to miss the new original blues from these seasoned pros. They're even better now with the additional member. Great writing on the new songs, too. Some really clever stuff. And always great licks all 'round. Arnold
great blues cd
author: JeffThis is a great blues CD. It's a mix of Texas blues and the Allman brothers. If you get a chance to see this band in person, DO IT!!!!!
Texas Tunes or Just Good Tunes?
author: JohnWOW is about all I can say about this CD. It is a live recording that you don't have to pull the headphones off in between tunes for. Regarding someone's statement that this is a Texas style band...well...yes to a point. I pose that the band could play in Memphis or anyother southern town in a battle of the bands and win.....and when they stop in Chicago on their way to Memphis, I have no doubt they will pack the house and return by request. They have a great sound and versatility that I have had the opportunity to hear in a few bands in the southern part of our great country. You will not be dissapointed by this CD! These guys can write and play the blues that "kick me" to get going!!!!
