How it all started...

It all started at a party in Van Nuys, CA, where Ra Navarro, lead singer of Trip was introduced to Marco Hernandez, the band's bassist. The two instantly became best friends, and ever since have been playing side by side in various bands and musical projects. Giving L.A. one last shot before going to New York, Aaron Urquhart answered an ad and came in for an audition. "I showed up early and listened outside the door while the band rehearsed. Within minutes, I was interested and convinced that it could work," recalls Aaron, lead guitarist for Trip. With this power trio firmly in place, the band was off and running. Over time, several drummers came in and out the mix, but something was still missing - and as serendipity would have it, that missing ingredient would come in the form of a gifted and energetic drummer from Detroit named Jeff Urbach. "We practically went through every drummer in LA. Tons of guys auditioned, some straight-out sucked, some preferred session work to joining a band, and others simply did not fit Trip for one reason or another. I was about to learn how to play the damn things myself . . . and just then the right guy finally showed up", explains Ra.

So what do they sound like? Trip's influences span punk, mainstream, pop, funk and rock, but the end result produces appealing marketable songs that are edgy, infectious, and extremely memorable. "Blah Blah" is a high energy, in your face, toe-tappin' ditty with an unforgettable hook that leaves you humming the tune for hours on end. Anyone who has ever gone unnoticed by the girl of his dreams will relate to the message of "All That She Wanted." "What I'll Never Be" is an anthem about unrealized dreams, and self-inflicted failure. "We usually end up writing songs that have to do with our personal lives and encompass what we're going through. It just ends up that a lot of people are going through the same things we are. But then again, maybe we just make it all up", quips Aaron.

Trip plays regularly at clubs around Los Angeles, and has appeared on national television on Ed McMahon's 'Next Big Star'. Their music and entertaining live shows draw fans from all over the Southland and win over new followers with every performance. In fact, their music has so much commercial appeal that it's found its way into the Season One DVD of the Warner Bros. hit TV show 'Smallville', MTV's 'Undressed', and the motion picture 'Going Down'.

Trip has secured endorsements from various clothing and instrument companies including Johnny Suede, Sha-Sha Fine Shoes, VIP Drums, Emite Sticks, and RotoSound Strings. Trip recently signed a production, recording and development deal with Haven Arts, who's Producers and Engineers have worked with some of the biggest names in the music world. Trip is currently looking to sign to a major record label. "It's only a matter of time until the right one comes along...and until then, we'll just keep writing songs and doing what we do", asserts Ra.

  • Heard song on MTV show

Hi, I was watching Travis Barker show on MTV and I heard one of your songs, so I came here to check out the other songs. This is off the chain. Do you have another cd coming out anytime soon?

  • Spock's brain
    author: Errand of Mercy

Judging by the pollution content of the atmosphere, I believe we have arrived at the late twentieth century. It is curious how often Trip manages to obtain that sound which they THINK they want. So it is only logical for them to concentrate on learning to redirect their thinking. There is potential here were they to play to inner geekdom everywhere. P.S. My tricorder indicates that a majority of these reviews were authored by one individual.

  • Clever and utterly commercial
    author: Music Connection Magazine

Clever and utterly commercial, this trio traffic in buoyant tunes that are radio-ready. Thanks to the band's appealing sound, they have landed various TV placements and are multi-endorsed. "Naked" is an amusing love song, "Scars" solidifies the band's Weezer-meets-Sugar Ray persona. "Blah Blah" is a brisk Blink 182 gallop. Considering this full-length CD's polished KROQ-friendly style, savvy A&R reps who've been around the block might wanna take this Trip.

  • Top Honors!
    author: Music Connection Magazine

I'm not too into the pop-punk music scene... but it was top notch material for that genre. Much Respect. One of the highest scores of the year so you'll most likely make the top submissions of the year in the year-end issue. MICHAEL MOLLURA Associate Editor/Columnist/Features MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE

Emo Power Pop that's like a cache of Starburst candies, catching a monster wave, cruising down the highway with the top down, long summer days, partying with your friends and reaching into your pocket to find a $50 dollar bill.. all at once. Throw in a hot kiss from the opposite sex and you have "Trip."

  • The most memorable freshman debut in a while
    author: Maestro Yaron

A set of 10 great songs, each equally charming. There are more than a few moments in here that seperate this group from your run-of-the-mill garage band. The band sounds good, plays tight. It's evident these performers are masters of their instruments but more important is the fact that they know how to play together. Put all these things together with a great production sound and you get this slick, affecting, and focused cd. This reviewer can hardly wait until the next cd.

  • lyrics to listen too...

    This CD rocks!

  • Pop-Punk at its finest!
    author: Nathan Zachary

Trip's CD, Naked, really made an impact on me. I usually don't like the power-pop or pop-punk style of music, but they stood out and hit me in the face (specifically the ears) with their melodic, perky music and amusing, and surprisingly straigh-forward lyrics. Definitely one of the best CDs that can go in the category of power-pop! Don't miss out on this one if that is your favorite style!

  • Awesome... Bought on a whim
    author: PunkRockGirl

This was bought on a whim... they had a very cleaver way to reach me to check it out. I had an offline message on Yahoo.. saying the CD was done. First response was "do i know you???" then I was curious so i checked out the profile went to the link and next thing I know I was buying the cd. A lot of my friends have listened to it and decided to buy it also. So definalty an awesome sound. They will be going somewhere soon!

  • Every song is a potential single!

Ultra-catchy power-pop/alternative. Every song is a potential single!

  • One of the best Emo CDs we have.

  • The most exciting thing to come out of the Western world in decades!
    author: Johnny Bad

Once in a while I come across a band that truly has that special "something". Well, now I know why bands like that are so hard to come by. Trip stole all the "something" from the Western world and threw it on 'Naked'. I was totally blown away. I hear 'single' in every track on this CD. Get ready world...Trip is about to break!
