notes
From the opening riff of One Trick Pony, the first song on Traveling Sky’s self-titled debut album it was clear they were forging their own path. It sounded way too country to be rock, but...it sounded too much like rock to call it country. So what was it? The fact is it doesn’t matter, because the sound struck a resonating chord with all who had the pleasure of hearing it.
Go ahead…turn on One Trick Pony and turn it up. Now try not to bob your head. I dare you.
Band bio:
Start with enough youthful energy to move mountains, add one part southern twang and one part infectious pop-rock hooks and you're starting to understand Traveling Sky. This band has successfully bridged the gap between the roots-rock sound of groups such as The Black Crowes and Son Volt and alternative pop-rock bands like Vertical Horizon and Train.
The members of Traveling Sky have been harmonizing and writing songs together since they were kids, resulting in what The Illinois Entertainer described as "voices big as the great outdoors". Chicago's Local Buzz Magazine hit it right on the head, citing the "drum beats and guitar riffs that are completely foot-stompin', and umphy vocals with great bluesy, gutsy harmonies that can please any crowd from here to the Rockies".
Traveling Sky currently has 4 other amazing albums for sale on CD Baby. They can be found at http://cdbaby.com/cd/travelingsky2, http://cdbaby.com/cd/travelingsky3, http://cdbaby.com/cd/travelingsky4 and http://cdbaby.com/cd/travelingsky5
Never content to sit still, the members of Traveling Sky have several different bands, in various genres...all of which are for sale here at CD Baby. If you like Traveling Sky, you should check out these awesome CDs by these multi-talented guys!!!
Release is a straight-up pop/rock band in the vein of Matchbox 20, The Gin Blossoms and Train. Release's CDs can be found at http://cdbaby.com/cd/release, http://cdbaby.com/cd/release2 and http://cdbaby.com/cd/release3.
RPM strikes a graceful balance between guitar rock and four-on-the-floor club music, with a healthy dose of goth darkness thrown into the mix. The RPM CD is available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/rpm06.
