notes

Traumatide is a four-piece modern rock band from Birmingham, AL. Their sound is characterized by sexy, inspirational, soaring female vocals, powerful, rocket-powered guitar riffs, backed by a groovalicious rhythm section. Their melodically driven, hook-laden songs have quickly attracted a very enthusiastic audience.

Most bands regard recording their music as a reasonable goal, something to look forward to after many years of performing and finding their niche. Traumatide is not quite like these other bands. An energetic modern rock band that is comfortable pounding out a heavy groove, or laying down soul-searching melodies, the group's four members barely knew one another when they pooled their writing and performing talents to put out their first record. Now, together for just over a year, Traumatide has released their debut CD 'This Thing Called Life' to the Birmingham music market, as well as to music fans from coast to coast looking to absorb their unique brand of hard-edged modern rock. With a style that incorporates the latest sounds in rock, a bit of pop, and other choice formats that spice up the mix, Traumatide is poised to establish themselves as a potent live act and engaging recording artists as well.

  • Kick ass rock!

I love the way the CD starts with the cool guitar riff on Revenge Begins! Every song is really cool, and well written. I think my favs are Revenge Begins, This Thing Called Life, and I'll Get Even. The Cranberries remake of Zombie was awesome as well, great job on that!

This is a great CD from a great local band. This CD rarely leave my CD player. Once in I do not skip over any tracks. All tracks are great and wonderfully produced. The sound is awesome, awesome powerful riffs to go along with the power vocals. The song This Thing Called Life is everything a rock song should be. This CD should be in everyone's collection. So go get it!

  • Great musical effort!

I picked up the CD at one of the band's shows (which was incredible by the way) and listened to it non-stop for about a week. There's a nice variety of styles represented here, not just the same rock & nu-metal cliques that are so predominant in most new music. The production is surprisingly good for an indie release. All and all I'd say it is one of my favorite releases this year so far. I also would encourage anyone reading to go check out Traumatide live - you won't be disappointed!

  • Fantastic music, kicks ass!

Ordered the CD on a recommendation of a friend. Was highly impressed. Great sounds, great vocals, great guitar. Very musical, and lots of variety - not the same 10 songs in a row most bands do. The remake of "Zombie" is one of the gems on the disk, as is "Revenge Begins." My favorite has to be the title track "This Thing Called Life" though. It begins softly and draws you in, then when you hear the chorus you can't help but be inspired. Great effort Traumatide!

  • Very musical CD!

From the opening track "Revenge Begins" I knew this wasn't any ordinary band. The guitars parts alone are incredible, and well produced. The title track is a song so powerful and addicting that it is hard to want to listen to another song. The vocals are a lot of everything - angst, anger, sultry, sexy, and inspiring. With the pulsating drumbeats and the driving bass lines, combined with the powerful guitar riffs that will send chills up your spine, this CD is one that everyone should have in their collection. Highly recommended!

  • I am absolutely amazed!!!!
    author: Laurie Daley

I am completely amazed at the pure quality of the music! It is a blend of hard rock anthems, hard touching melodies and soul grabbing pop. I haven't removed it from my CD Player either. It is truly a must listen to appreciate CD. Keep rocking guys and my girl. I am impressed. Oh, by the way, I normally am not attracted to this kind of music but am captivated by the pure harmonies. Try it, you'll see.

  • Awesome CD!

I've seen Traumatide live several times and they are very entertaining. They have lots of passion, energy, and are good musicians, but what I like about them so much is they always look like they are having so much fun. I got the CD as soon as I could and I have been listening to it for several weeks now. Like the other reviewer mentioned, every song on the CD is awesome. There are rock anthems as well as sweet ballads, and all the songs are catchy as hell. How could anyone not remember "Rock Bottom"? The production is a few notches above the norm as well, something you don't hear much of from indie bands. I think this band has something special, and I'm sure I'll be a fan for a long time.

  • This CD hasnt left my player!
    author: Shannon

The debut CD release from Traumatide is incredible. Strong vocals, amazing musical sound and plenty of energy. I have owned the CD for a few months now and can honestly say it has not left my CD player. The original songs (all but one) are powerful, heartfelt at times, motivating and fun to groove to. Also, the Traumatide remake of The Cranberries Zombie, is nothing short of amazing. I know several who would have sworn it was the original. This band may be just busting out, but what a grand entrance on the scene...there isn't one song on this CD that I skip past. It's feel good, rock it out and enjoy yourself music. A definite must buy!
