notes
Trappers Cabin has been creating music for a long time. He has released 7 albums, the latest being "Blue Sky Black Bear". This latest work has seen the transition from his traditional 4 tracked music on to a new more lo fi digital sound.
There is no genre attached with this music. He's one of those individuals you have a tough time explaining. Hidden in the mountains of Georgia alone with the woods, he creates whatever his mind allows. Music with heavy elements of classic country (Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard) mixed with the modern sounds of artists like Beck, Elliott Smith and Ween. Throw in the wonderful harmonies of Brian Wilson, the guitar playing of Neil Young and the experimentation of the Beatles and you may....just may.....be along the right path deep into the woods towards Trappers Cabin! Listen for the music, smell the smoke and begin to smile!

Listen with headphones..
author: JasonI liked this CD but I like the earler stuff like Mistakes and 33 better.. Joel need to go back to his roots and do a CD with the same recording and sampling as he did way back when he started...
listen with headphones!
author: lena o' connellthis album has soft acoustic sounds fused with experimental harmony that are incredibly unique and personal. the artist has avoided all sense of pretension and has created a place where the listener is a part of the experience. for the jaded consumer who thinks they have heard it all, let trapper's cabin prove you wrong.
a beautifully created cd
author: candy craigmr. cabin's music (his guitar playing and his voice) is soulful yet tender. there is a playful tone to his music, yet it conveys such warmth. i'd recommend this album to anyone who appreciates good songwriting and excellent acoustic guitar playing, and an extra bonus is that his voice is just as beautiful. cd highlights are be a man, the sixties, e train... (to name a few)
Instilling faith, in the faithless.
author: Alecia StantonThis album is absolutely amazing. It is very unique, blended, and diverse in style. I'm very glad I received this when I did, as music (which I breathe) was dying for me, when any new band seems to resemble the last new band, the styles are carbon copied, the gimmicks, the attitudes. I like this because it's real. Something most artists (albums) don't capture. I think musicians should take this as a set example, and music lovers should purchase this album right now.
richly orchestrated, yet subtly executed
author: Ryan HofferTrappers Cabin knows a thing or two about channeling the elemental colors and textures of his surroundings in his music. His eccentric “rurality” is steeping in tradition, yet longing to arrive somewhere outside the canon of conventional country music. “Be a Man” is richly orchestrated, yet subtly executed.
feed your soul with a misty mountain
author: pluertrapper's songs absolutley put your soul at ease. he has a way of touching you with the soft melodies of the mountains. it's folk, soul and indie all blended into something all its own. muy bien hecho chulero!!!

A great brew of country and folk, with some pet sounds and wild-honey thrown in for good measure! This is quality stuff Trappers Cabin serves up, in Stereo "360 Sound" no less.
a gifted artist.
author: Eric BurchfieldThis album is great. The songs are very well written and the tracklisting has an excellent flow to it. The vocals and the guitar work mix perfectly and there is a level of experimentation that keeps the listener interested throughout the entire album. Great guy and a great artist.
You can't pigeon-hole it...
author: Anjy...and that's a wonderful thing. I first heard "E Train" and was mezmerized. It really blew me away. I love alt-country and indie music equally and Joel blends the two perfectly, but also adds kick ass elements that you can't find a label for. That's next to impossible to do nowadays and magical when it happens. You won't be disappointed if you picked up this cd.
yeah,it's good
author: J.R.the cd is a worthy listen, my favorite tracks are "georgia mountain woods" and " the 60's"..."be a man" is also a great track to listen to if you want a bit of neil young flavor. so just buy the fucking cd.
Awesome!
author: tashaThis cd is my new best friend, my multi-vitamin, my omega supplement, my cure for the blues, my stress relief. This cd has been my favorite for 40 years even though it's just been released. Please let it sneak up on you and then saturate you completely. Put it on repeat and live in the world waiting for you there. I hope this cd takes off like wildfires. Blessings to you, Joel, and Thank You for this amazing and awesome music!!
It's addictive... like crack.
author: HallieI just received this cd and have not been able to get enough of it. I think I have listened to it at least 6 times straight through in the past 24 hours. If you love good music... buy this... NOW!!!
Good songs, good performance, good album.
author: Craig MorrisThe songs are great. The songs are both complex and unique. They are very artistic but Trappers' humor works its way into the songs giving us excellent songs that don't take themselves too seriously, something Dylan does often. Overall the album is great. There is nothing negative to say about it.
something for everyone
author: ann*e woods.... www.dopeLogo.comtruly a gem in my collection.. this album satisfies all of my genera tastes. there is something for everyone on this disc, and I can say that every cd mix I make in the future will contain at least one track from this cd. the only problem is… which one. i look forward to watching TC evolve and expand into that which he is destine to become.
Can't get that song out of my head..........
author: Bill (Winner of 2004 ESPN Radio singing contest)I would pay money to NOT be driving down the road and have the song "Be a Man" playing in my head. Catchy tune. Love it. Good CD. Reminds me a little of Simon and Garfunkel. Good stuff.
damn genius
author: big daddy smith5 stars is just not enough to describe this master piece. Nettie leads us through a door of unforgiven pleasures. With a hint of Dylan, a touch of Young, and just a hint of Floyd's influence, this is a must have for any serious collector. Trappers Cabin has made the long journey from their grass root core from a small Wisconsin farm community, to playing for coins and scrounging for the next meal. They seem to tie it all together in this misty gem.
trapper's cabin does it again
author: david berkeleya diverse collection of distinct, heartfelt music. stylistically refreshing and whimsical. a bit of elliott smith, a bit of neil young, a bit of stuff you've never heard. you'll like this disc quite a lot.
Fantastic CD - great harmonies and unique songs!
author: Double D RecordsThis is a great CD which is hard to explain, the best way I can say it is that the songs are very unique, catchy yet weird, and there are some real gems on here! The vocals are outstanding - this is a 5 star CD!
You haven't heard anything like this before.
author: Pointy JessBlue Sky Black Bear is a seamless mix of jammin' folk, light psychadelia, tender emotion and lightherated playfulness. Trapper's Cabin obviously is inspired by a variety of music, and there are nuances of many different genres throughout this album. Blue Sky Black Bear is a breath of fresh air in a period of music where much is recycled, rehashed, and redone. I enjoyed every second of it, and I know you will too.

A brilliant CD. I just recieved my copy in the mail about a week ago and am loving it. From ther first track, you know you're in for something different. Cool production, good lyrics and all around good songwriting. Highly recommended.
OUTSTANDING!
author: Brendan SheaThis album is incredible! It's a great mix of traditional accoustic guitar with "indie rock" production values. The soothing, soulful vocal range of Trappers Cabin is the real payoff, whether its one lonely simple voice or a giant wall of Beatlesque harmonies you can't help but smile when it all comes together!!
some good ol' music for your ears, body, and soul...
author: mark martucciI wrote these words to Mr. Trappers Cabin directly: i'm listening to it again now... and it's verry good. the recording sounds great. and you got some great background stuff going. i was just saying the other day how no one uses that 1968 humor anymore... and you got some of it going on in here. verry nice... have you been sending it to any lables or anything? by the way you sound exactly like beck on one foot in the grave on "the sixties" awesome. groovy. now let's sell some albums!
an amazing journey through your own soul into the heart of the woods
author: A.P. Ferrarathis album is an obvious result of intensely profound explorations and discoveries that one can only achieve when he is enlightened by the spirit of the universe, the black bear and the blue sky. for real, dudes, this is one trip you need to take!!!
A MUST FOR THE CURIOUS AND BIZARRE
author: TroyI got this cd and was extremely impressed at the uniqueness of it. The harmonies and melodies are very lovely to the ears. Definatley a breath of fresh air in a world in which the music scene has become littered with trash!!! It's wonderful go and Buy it!
A walk thru the meadow to Trappers Cabin
author: Brian Surgi, Legendary Meadows StudioA journey of ideas and musical themes which seem instantly familiar, yet, upon closer listening, are entirely unique. Trappers Cabin is not just about music.....it's about a state of mind. Take the walk and experience it for youself. You won't be disappointed.
