Music you don't have to be drunk to dance to!
A raw acoustic sound comin' down from the cold waters of Penobscot Bay. This Trio formed in the Summer of 2004 has been whipping up quite a storm in the island communities of Midcoast Maine, and are just now bringing there suitcase of sounds to a wider audience. Pinata, captures well the versitility and diversity of the toughcat sound. The album was recorded and mixed by the toughcats live with a few over dubs to attempt to capture a live toughcat show, and was all done in the local community center late at night in the middle of a cold January. The mastering work was done by Kramer of
second-shimmy http://www.kramershimmy.com. The toughcats compliment their music with original video, performance, and homemade lighting.
The toughcats are:
Jacob James Greenlaw-suitcase, drums, percussion
Colin Jason Gulley-banjo, mandolin
Joseph Robert Nelson-guitar, lead vocal

Imaginative, traditional, eclectic, high can't-help-bopping-around energy. Bought the CD out of curiosity, because I know their home island well. I expected ok/hey-I'm-just-glad-to-support-island-music, and got rocking. (Serves this toughcat critic right for not having a little faith, but we're also the most passionate converts.) Here's hoping the word and music spread. They've got the it factor.
