notes
The first-ever anthology CD of songs celebrating human space exploration, brought to you in partnership with the Mars Society and the National Space Society.
If you've ever teared up at a space shuttle launch — or dreamed about stepping foot on Mars — you'll laugh, cry, and be inspired by these sixteen songs celebrating the rocketing history of human spaceflight.
Even legendary Apollo astronaut Buzz Aldrin was moved to tears on national television by Fire in the Sky, recorded for this album.
Included in this collection is Pioneers of Mars, awarded first place in the Mars Society's Rouget de Lisle songwriting competition. NASA honored it as wake-up music for the Opportunity Mars rover, on sol 20 of its mission.
Press coverage for this one-of-a-kind project has included SPACE.com, MSNBC, Popular Science, Air & Space/Smithsonian, The Space Show, Discovery Channel, San Francisco Chronicle, and the Seattle Times.

Absolutely inspiring!
author: Robert NechI recommend this CD highly to all who are interested in space exploration and want to inspire the next generation of space explorers. It has been so long since Elton John's "Rocketman" to hear songs such as these played by talented artists with the same passion for reaching the stars. This CD gives us the emotional push to make commercial access to space a reality in our lifetime. Space Ship One's first trips to space are just the beginning. Ready to take a ride? Crank up the CD and let's go!
This CD is a must have for any collector.
author: Jef SimpsonEvery song is memorable but my favorite was "Dog on the Moon" which painted quite a picture in my mind. This CD is a wonderful collection of music and artists.
These songs are sure to become the folk songs and anthems of our future space co
author: Clark S. LIndsey (Hobbyspace)In this age when hardly anyone listens to music outside of their favorite genre, I don't know what is tougher: getting to Mars or getting people to give this terrific album a chance! Space activists will love it, of course, but if others will just take a listen, they will enjoy it too. In fact, they will be amazed at how appealing these "space" songs are. Whether you are a space enthusiast or not, you will enjoy this album. Great music that transcends genres comes from artists genuinely inspired by their passion. Take a chance. If you do, you won't regret it. In fact, you might just be inspired to help us get to Mars!
One of the best SF Filk compilations of this age.
author: Jari JamesI don't think I've had the poor thing out of my CD player since it showed up. This is an awesome piece of work - one so uplifting and powerfully beautiful that my husband stuck his head into my office to try and find out why I was cheering and crying all at the same time. Beautiful. Just beautiful. Such a great collection with incredible breadth and depth of old and new works. If I were told I could recommend only one CD to my friends, this one would have to be it.
Thrilled by this new collection of original songs
author: Buzz AldrinAs someone who has actually set foot on the threshold of space and experienced firsthand its majesty and the incredible potential it holds for the human race, I am thrilled by this new collection of original songs celebrating the beginnings of our great endeavor to reach for the stars.
