notes
Singer, writer, producer and actor Tony Grant is on a mission and the entertainment industry has taken notice.
As the former lead vocalist of the internationally acclaimed, Grammy-nominated group Az Yet (LaFace Records), it was Tony's patented first-tenor voice that dazzled the music world on such hit songs as "Last Night" and "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" following the departure of singer/songwriter Marc Nelson.
Tony has either performed or recorded with an array of talented and accomplished artists over the last decade, including Brian McKnight, Dr. Dre, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Shirley Murdock, Dave Hollister, Stevie Wonder and Ham Conick, Jr., just to name a few.
While singing has always been Tony's first love, he has proven over and over that he is not just a one-dimensional entertainer. He is also an accomplished stage actor. A North Carolina native currently residing in Los Angeles, Tony has had star billing in the hit national inspirational stage play and now DVDs "Tell Hell I Ain't Comin'", Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married" and "Love Ain't Supposed To Hurt."
His love and passion for theater started in 1991, when he was cast for the lead role in the hit stage play "A Good Man is Hard to Find." From there he has became one of the most popular leading men in the industry. He also has starred in Mike Matthews "Mama, I'm Sorry," Bishop TD Jakes and Tyler Perry's "Behind Closed Doors," "Dave Talberts "Fabric of a Man," Angela Barrow Dunlap and Lizzie Berry's "Why Do Good Girls Like Bad Boys," Kim Fields' "Barefoot in the Park," Angela Barrow Dunlap's "If These Hips Could Talk and Zeola Gaye and Angela Barrow Dunlap's "My Brother Marvin" starring as Marvin Gaye.
Perhaps a true testament to his vocal and acting abilities was when Tony starred in the musical production of "Jesus Christ Super Star" along side Jack Black and Ben Vereen. Tony's performances drew rave reviews from audiences and theater critics alike. He also starred in other off-Broadway musical productions such as "The Dorothy Height Story," "If This Hat Could Talk" (directed by famed choreographer George Faison) and "Raisin In The Sun."
Tony is equally proud of his writing skills, which have been an intricate part of his arsenal of talent. He is in the process of writing his own stage plays, movies and music - not only for himself, but for several other accomplished actors and singers. He shows these talents off with flawless style and finesse through his first solo album - "Grant Life" (release date 10/22/2007).
Through "Grant Life," Tony exhibits his expansive lyrical talents and incredible vocal range through a diverse blend of several R&B/soul stylings from classic love songs, to neo-funk, to uptempo dance songs.

Totally Unexpected
author: Samuel RadfordI got this album on the basis of him being with az yet and currently working with Marc Nelson with the supergroup Blayse, i thougt he is worth a listen. And this album is totally something new. His voice is smooth yet powerful and Sunshine proves that. There are so many great tracks that naming them all would be too long. In short, buy the album especially if you want something different from todays music scene that brings you down to a mello level
