“Welcome TONIC Vintage Vocals with a ball of fire offering that’s pure rollercoaster thrills, a very cool audio ride with a harmonizing technique that is just so smooth. This is not your typical “snake oil” production - TONIC will bring your blood to fever levels.”

Jazz Review
Karl Stober

“TONIC Vintage Vocals have an interesting twist on the usual romanticism involved in producing old-styled harmonic jazz singing; they write new ones. The quartet of singers has worked a classic form of vocal swing. Original compositions run from a hopped-up version of swing in the vein of the modern swing era to a vastly more subdued form, often even in solo slinks. Their four-part harmonies are impeccable and shine clearly.”

“TONIC Vintage Vocals brings classy harmonics, a lot of great tunes plus some hip vocalizations. This album is as hip as it gets with hints of the Manhattan Transfer but with a bit more muscle in the vocals and arrangements. If you like Swing then cop this disc; it will bring smiles and some toe tapping joy, and that is no jive. 5 Stars.”

“In swing you have to have the look, but TONIC Vintage Vocals delivers the goods as well. This vocal quartet does more than just cover swing/lounge material; their nine-piece backing band and a few guest musicians expertly play original swing orchestra arrangements, instead of imitating the usual Louis Jordan-style combo. Best of all the originals (written by members of the quartet) stand equally with the covers. With two male and two female vocalists, comparisons to Manhattan Transfer seem inevitable, but TONIC has only existed since 2003 and their harmonies are as good as they come. They may not bring back the style of swing on their own, but this group from Chicago should at least be far more successful than the Cubs.”

Since TONIC Vintage Vocals’ arrival on the Chicago scene in 2003 they've performed for corporate events, clubs, and private venues to enthusiastic and grateful audiences who know great neo-Big Band jazz music when they hear it! What’s the sound? Think Manhattan Transfer meets The Rat Pack…with a little Louis Prima thrown in for solid Swing.

TONIC's self-titled Debut CD (December 2004) continues to receive coast-to-coast airplay on jazz and A/C stations in over 100 large and small radio markets, both nationally and internationally. It was featured on Dave Radlauer's syndicated Jazz Rhythm series and was touted by Julio Martinez of Variety as a contender for the Jazz Vocal Grammy in 2005. Seven of the tracks have held Broadjam Top 10 ratings in numerous categories for over twelve months.

Snazzy 4-part vocals and smooth solo efforts swing on popular jazz favs and smokin' originals in a mix that belongs among the best popular jazz CDs in any collection. Enjoy all 13 cuts on a stylish ride through a wide variety of genres and sounds, from Latin to lounge, jump to lush.

In two short years TONIC Vintage vocals has landed a great niche following worldwide and gotten their catchy, classic sound moving fast and furious into the ears of critics and audiences who dig fine lyrics, sweet melodies, and top-flight vocal flare. The ongoing goal for the group is "To Celebrate the Classic American Jazz Songbook and Introduce New Standards to Keep the Tradition Alive!"

Once you've gotten to know this crew you'll want to check out their second album (October 2005) titled "It Ain't Over 'Til The Fat Man Swings", a hip and solid addition to every Christmas and jazz fan library. With airplay in over 125 national and international radio markets in 2005 and spins on major syndicated programming plus numerous stellar reviews, this anticipated release has become an instant Christmas favorite.
